Namor is a mid-range Duelist who uses minions and projectile attacks. He works well against dive characters. He places turret-like minions that shoot enemies while he throws tridents from a distance. Each minion lasts for a short time and can focus on targets that Namor hits (or the nearest enemy). His shield ability lets him become temporarily invulnerable to escape danger or reposition safely.

In this guide we will break down everything you need to know about how to play and counter Namor in Marvel Rivals along with the best settings and stats.

Namor Stats

Namor works best when defending against dive characters or applying constant pressure from mid-range. Here are his basic stats:

Ability Management

  • Trident of Neptune (Primary Attack): This projectile has no damage falloff, meaning it does full damage at any range. The projectile has an arc falloff, so aim a bit higher for targets that are far away, just like shown in the video above. Each hit on an enemy reduces your spawn cooldown. Headshots make your spawns attack faster temporarily and enter the berserk state.
    • (Note: When we are in close range, we use the dot as a shot reference, while when we are far, we use the bars as a reference.)
  • Wrath of the Seven Seas (Right Click): Use this to make your spawns focus on specific targets. When you hit an enemy with this ability, all your spawns will:
    • Attack that enemy
    • Enter "berserk mode" for 2 seconds, attacking faster
    • Keep focusing on that target until they die or break line of sight
  • Aquatic Dominion (E): You can have two spawns active at once. They automatically attack nearby enemies, but will focus on whoever you hit with your attacks. Try to place them in safe positions with a good line of sight. They do most damage within 20 meters of their target.
  • Blessing of the Deep (Shift): This makes you completely invulnerable for 3 seconds. Use it to escape ultimates or when focused by enemies. You can still receive healing while in this state.
  • Horn of Proteus (Ultimate): This prevents enemies from using movement abilities while the whale is coming down. The inner circle deals enough damage to kill most non-tank heroes. Use it on grouped enemies or to finish off low-health targets.

How to Play Namor in Marvel Rivals

Positioning and Playstyle

  • Gameplay Pattern: Stay in the midline of your team, behind tanks but near your supports. Place Aquatic Dominion in positions where they can see enemies but are hard to hit. Use your primary fire to reduce spawn cooldowns, and your secondary fire to make your spawns enter a berserk state when you aren't able to land the headshots.
  • Good Positions for Namor include higher areas with clear sightlines to objectives or choke points. Look for spots where you can see the fight but aren't easily flanked.
  • Spawn Placement: When placing spawns, consider:
    • High positions that are hard for enemies to reach
    • Near your supports if enemies have dive characters
    • Positions with good line of sight to the battlefield
  • When to Attack: Use your secondary fire when you have at least one spawn active to maximize damage. Save your Blessing of the Deep for when you're targeted or ultimates are coming.

Target Priority

Namor's target priority is not exactly the same as other Duelists. While he can damage long-range characters, he's better at dealing with dive characters.

Your priority targets as Namor should be:

  1. Dive characters attacking your team (Spider-Man, Black Panther, etc.)
  2. Flying Characters (Such as storm, human torch, etc.)
  3. Enemy supports
  4. Other duelists
  5. Tanks

Namor Ability Combos in Marvel Rivals

  • Dive Counter Combo: Place spawns near supports -> Hit diving enemy with Secondary Fire (Right Click) -> Follow up with Primary headshots while the spawns focus them
  • Basic Damage Combo: Spawn > Primary Fire headshot -> Secondary Fire -> Let spawns focus target with enhanced attacks
  • Defensive Combo: Use Blessing of the Deep when being dived -> While invulnerable, reposition and place spawns -> Target enemies with Primary/Secondary Fire

How to Counter Namor in Marvel Rivals?

Namor's main weaknesses are his reliance on minions and his vulnerability when his shield is on cooldown. Without his minions, his damage output is significantly reduced. His projectiles also require good aim to be effective.

Ways to counter Namor:

  • Focus and destroy his minions quickly
  • Track when he uses his shield and pressure him while it's on cooldown
  • Use shields or barriers to block his projectiles

Namor is good at controlling areas and stopping dive attacks. With practice, you'll get better at placing minions in better spots and landing those trident headshots.

His steady damage and ability to protect the team make him useful in many team compositions. Whether you're shutting down Spider-Man's dive attempts or melting tanks with your gamma minions, Namor brings a lot of value to any team, especially in the current meta where his Gamma Minions are just broken!

Try him out when the enemy team has lots of mobile heroes or when your team needs reliable mid-range damage.
