As a Vanguard, Thor is here to lead the charge into battle and protect his team from enemy attacks. Utilizing Thorforce, Thor is able to bounce between playing conservatively alongside his healers and self-reliance for a more head-on strategy. Thorforce naturally charges through Lightning Realm or landing Thor's normal attack, Mjolnir Bash, and can be expended for bonus Health or activating Awakening Rune for Health and Damage boosts. These abilities are the lifeblood of Thor's game plan - keep your Thorforce charged and use your abilities to sustain yourself as much as possible - let your Strategists focus on your other teammates.
Thor is even able to retreat if things get too heated with Storm Surge - as much as the ability can be used to get back to the battle quickly, it can be used to jump out of the action and lick your wounds. If Thorforce is depleted, you can attack from afar with Hammer Throw, which has a throwing distance of 24m. Better yet, Mjolnir has a chance for a double hit on the return trip. Between the initial 70 damage and potential 30 damage on the projectile return, that's 100 damage from a single attack, all from a safe distance. Just remember Hammer Throw requires Thorforce.
With 500 HP, Thor is a bit more fragile than the other Vanguards, but the character makes up for it with self-healing and sustainability. Thor's Ultimate Ability, God of Thunder, unleashes an initial burst of damage followed by a huge slam of devastating power.
Thor benefits a Team-up ability with Hela - when Hela lands the final hit on an enemy, Odinson Reborn grants bonus health and reduced damage or can even revive Thor while the character is in the respawn phase. Thor's second Team-up ability, Thunderous Deity, infuses Thorforce into Storm and Captain America, granting them an Electrifying Enhancement - Storm can unleash a lightning barrage, while Captain America gains a movement boost and imbues his shield with thunder power, electrocuting nearby enemies.
Thor is a great Vanguard pick, especially if you have a Hela or Storm on your team. Thor's sustainability allows Strategists to focus their healing elsewhere and the character's mobility keeps him agile and unpredictable on the battlefield. Just remember to keep your Thorforce charged to have your full suite of defensive and offensive abilities at your disposal.
