The best Marvel Rivals Jeff the Land Shark guide: Skills, builds, stats, skins, how to play, and more.

Most landsharks are vicious creatures of the deep... but not Jeff! This adorable and mischievous little landshark brings splashes of joy and healing to every battle. But if the tide turns, Jeff can morph into a voracious beast, swallowing an army of foes in one giant gulp!

Guide

Everyone's favorite baby landshark, Jeff, is one of the game's easiest to use strategists. He offers the highest and most consistent amount of healing at the cost of fighting at the same time you heal. Despite popular belief, Jeff is more than a character that eats the team and jumps off the map. In this guide, we will start with an overview of his abilities for new players. If you already know the basics of the character, skip down to the next section where will give you some tips and tricks to make you more effective in matches. Finally, we will give you some guidance on if Jeff is the right character for you.

Basic Ability Guide (For Beginners)

You can find a bulleted list of the character's abilities in game under their character tab. This portion of the guide will cover the same info, as well as some extra information and tips that the game doesn't clearly outline. If you already have a basic grasp of the character, skip to the next section for more advanced tips.

Jeff is a very simple, but effective healer. His primary attack goes all-in on healing and does no damage at all. Your Joyful Splash shoots a strait beam of water that rapidly heals all teammates in its path. It heals a massive 140 hp per second and has about 5 seconds worth of continuous healing. His reloading is quick, making his healing consistent to deliver.

His secondary attack goes all-in on DPS and does no healing. It does more damage for opponents who are very close, but that damage drops significantly past 3 meters away. It has a fairly high rate of fire, so he can definitely win fights he is involved in.

Jeff has 2 main abilities: "Healing Bubble" and "Hide and Seek". Healing Bubble let you spit out spheres of healing onto the battlefield. When allies walk into them, they give a burst of healing! Not only that, but they increase the rate you can heal from other sources, they give a movement boost, and knock back any opponent's who may be next to you. The bonus heal and speed buff lasts for 4 seconds. You can litter these around key locations and they will remain there for 3 minutes. Jeff can use his own bubbles as well!

Hide and Seek lets Jeff dive underground and dodge projectiles to everything but his exposed fin. In this mode, he heals himself, he can climb walls, and he gets a movement boost. You can swap into and out of this mode with no cooldown.

Jeff also has a passive ability called Obvious Cuteness. This gives him a 50% reduction to all incoming critical hits. In other words, headshots do less damage to him, giving him more opportunities to dive underground and heal or use a bubble.

His ultimate ability is the infamous shark attack. On activation, you get to choose a location to eat all players within the specified radius. You can eat both allies and opponents. While eaten, a timer will countdown before you spit everyone out in the direction you are facing. You also have the option to spit out all opponents or all allies in the direction you are facing. All enemies who are actively eaten will have a slow damage drain at 25 hp per second. Unknown to most players, any allies eaten by Jeff will get a massive 225 hp per second heal!

Tips and Tricks For Gameplay

This may be a surprise to many players, but Jeff is not a DPS character. He is a healer. So to actually be helpful, stick with your team. Dropping some bubbles on point and rushing the opponent's back line may annoy the enemy team, but your team is left stranded while you're gone.

Jeff is best used when you have tanks like Venom, Hulk, or Peni Parker who block damage by absorbing it to their large hp. Jeff can heal so quickly and consistently, he can keep your tanks alive by himself for significantly longer than any other healer.

Jeff's bubbles can be popped by allies or Jeff if they are at full health. This means it isn't helpful to litter them on top of where they are actively fighting. Try and place these bubbles in places nearby the fight, but not so close as to be accidentally used. You get more bubbles quickly though, so there's no reason to hoard them.

If your ally is close to death, try shooting bubbles at them before you heal. The instant hp burst can give them a quick recovery combined with the healing boost it gives. This will make your healing beam much more effective.

Jeff can be frustratingly hard to kill. Use this to your advantage. If your team goes down, you don't have to die with them. Dive underground and retreat, or you can circle the objective and stall if you need more time. This ability gets overused as a way of pretending to be a DPS character. While yes, you can survive a long time on a solo journey behind enemy lines. That doesn't mean it is more helpful than sticking with your team to heal.

Your ultimate doesn't have to team wipe to be effective. We've all seen enough Jeff's gobble up the enemy team and spit them over a cliff. You can still do this, but keep in mind that you can also save your team with this ultimate. If the enemy team is rushing in with lots of ultimates, you can snatch up your team and run around. This protects them from damage while healing any hp they lost. It's VERY important to note you have to be careful with this technique. Eating just one or two of your allies will just remove damage output and expose your remaining team. Use this only in specific situations, but be aware it is a viable option if you execute it properly.

At the start of a match, drop lots of bubbles in your spawn just before the doors open. This will give your team a quick speed boost to the objective! You will recharge those bubbles quickly, so don't be afraid to use them for movement boosts. Depending on the area you are in, you can even drop additional bubbles as you make your way forward. You don't need to use the bubbles yourself since you move fast underground anyways, so let your team use them.

Is Jeff For You?

Jeff is an all-in healer that is only useful for a team with high DPS. You want to be closer to the action to accurately heal, so you will have to be good with jumping in and out of your dive mode. You can definitely add to the team's damage output, but you have to be comfortable with stopping the fight and swapping to full support. Jeff isn't strong at healing at fighting simultaneously like other Vanguard.

If you enjoy healing and want to avoid combat, Jeff is may be a good character for you. If your team needs healing, you always have it avalible with no cooldown. If you get attacked, you can easily retreat and heal yourself. You offer a great deal of utility to the team if you use it properly, but you pose a great risk if you don't fill your role well.

If you want to be in the fight and let healing be a side gig, Jeff may not be the right character for you. You have to be support-minded to play this character, and that requires you drop your bullets for a healing beam.
