Jeff the Land Shark Rework

Jeff the Land Shark Rework: Now Updated to be Nerfed Less – Is it Enough?

The latest Balance Patch Notes for Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals has been announced, coming on May 30, 2025. A big rework to Jeff the Land Shark has been the most hotly discussed topic among the Marvel Rivals community, with most predicting the changes will render the character much less useful.

Less than a day into the patch notes being published, NetEase has corrected the Jeff section, lessening the blow just a little bit. Up to now, we also know that NetEase is quite receptive to community feedback, and they have also made an official clarification regarding the changes to Thor and Jeff.

As for Jeff, the initial balance update mistakenly showed a non-final version of his changes—we’ve now corrected the announcement. We’ve also improved the feel of Joyful Splash, increasing its water flow speed for smoother control. In the updated version, Joyful Splash now pierces both allies and enemies, healing teammates while damaging opponents. With this change, Jeff now charges his ultimate faster, making combos like the Sharknado with Storm or solo initiations more effective than ever!

In summary, the healing nerfs have been reverted slightly, and also allowing Jeff to heal through both allies and enemies. However, the ultimate cost has been increased by 500 as well (but charges faster), which was not in the previous patch notes.

Furthermore, Jeff also gains two new Team-Up abilities with Storm and Venom, but will no longer have the one with Luna Snow. These bonuses at first glance, seem minor at best.
