Marvel Rivals Dev Vision Vol 06: Season 2.5 Preview

The latest Marvel Rivals Dev Vision Vol 06 revealed huge changes coming to the game in Season 2.5. A lot of team-up abilities are getting changed, a new hero is joining the roster, and a lot of balance changes are being made. Let's go through what the developers have planned and everything they shared during the Dev Vision Vol 06.

Ultron Joins the Fight

Ultron is joining the roster as a flying strategist. Here is a complete guide on Ultron that you might want to check!

New Team-Ups in Season 2.5

Several heroes are getting new team-up abilities in Season 2.5:

  • Symbiote Serum: Venom now shares his symbiote powers with Jeff the Land Shark, which lets Jeff have symbiote tendrils that link allies and heal them.
  • Operation Microchip: Black Widow can now fire a piercing beam that goes through multiple enemies while aiming down sights when paired with the punisher.
  • Chilling Assault: Luna Snow creates special ice arrows for Hawkeye that can go through walls and terrain. The farther Hawkeye shoots, the more damage this arrow deals.
  • Rocket Network/Tech Pals: Peni Parker uses Rocket Raccoon’s tech to deploy a second, smaller Bionic Spider-Nest that also generates armor packs. Meanwhile, Rocket’s beacon is transformed into an enhanced beacon that spawns cyber webs, Spider-Drones, and Arachno-Mines.
  • Stark Protocol: Ultron can tap into Iron Man's armor to fire piercing lasers that damage enemies and heal teammates simultaneously.
  • Jeff-Nado: When Storm and Jeff the Land Shark's ultimate abilities are ready, they unleash the "Jeff Tornado." Storm controls a spinning Jeff that deals damage over time and ultimately devours enemies.

Removed Team-Ups and Changes

Four team-ups are being completely removed: Chilling Charisma, Allied Agents, Ammo Overload, and Symbiote Bond. Iron Man is also being taken out of the Gamma Charge team-up.

Hero Balance Updates

Several heroes are getting adjusted to create better balance. Here are the characters that are getting buffed and nerfed:

Characters receiving buff:

  • Magneto
  • Doctor Strange
  • The Punisher
  • Storm
  • Squirrel Girl

Character receiving nerfs:

  • Groot
  • Captain America
  • Emma Frost
  • Iron Fist
  • Human Torch
  • Psylocke

Character Adjustments:

  • Jeff the Land Shark
  • Luna Snow

Some of the strongest team-ups, like the Fantastic Four, Hulk-Namor pairing (Gamma Charge), and Emma Frost-Magneto-Psylocke combo (Mental Projection), are being dialed back. Check out the balance patch notes for Season 2.5.

New Experimental Mode

On June 6th, a new experimental mode called "Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol" launches. This mode works somewhat like Team Fight Tactics or auto chess games. Stay tuned for more details!

Quality of Life Improvements

The update adds hero proficiency avatars to the character select screen, so you can see how experienced other players are with their chosen heroes. Two new personalization systems are coming: moods and emojis.

Starting with Season 3, seasons will be shorter at two months each instead of longer periods. This means more frequent updates and new content. The developers say they're preparing new heroes that are "worth the wait" for future seasons. June also brings the start of the Ignite tournament series, giving competitive players something to aim for.
