This limited-time feature launches on May 30, 2025, and gives you another way to unlock costumes, emojis, and other rewards just by playing matches. Let me break down everything you need to know about how this Combat Chest works in Marvel Rivals and what all rewards you can expect to get from it.

How Does Combat Chest Work in Marvel Rivals?
From the recent patch notes, it seems like the Combat Chest works pretty much like a battle pass system, where you will level up your Combat Chest (however, we are not completely sure). You will earn experience points by playing matches, and as you gain more XP, your Combat Chest levels up. Each level you reach unlocks new rewards for you to claim. According to a Marvel Rivals dataminer, the Combat Chest is not a lootbox system, and all the rewards are predetermined.
However, there's another way the Combat Chest could work until we get official details. You might earn XP to level up the chest, and each level gives you a predetermined reward from a set pool of items. The quality and rarity of these rewards would likely get better as you reach higher levels, so early levels might give you emojis or sprays, while later levels unlock costumes.
Right now, the developers haven't shared all the details about exactly how much XP you need per level or if there are special missions to help you progress faster. What we do know for sure is that every match you play will give you experience points. It doesn't matter if you win or lose - you'll still make progress toward your next reward.
There's also a Premium Combat Chest option. If you decide to buy the premium version, you'll get access to way more rewards on top of the free ones. Once you buy the premium chest, it stays available forever. This means you can take your time leveling it up without worrying about missing out on rewards if you can't play every day.
The price for the Premium Combat Chest hasn't been announced yet, so we'll have to wait until May 30 to see how much it costs. Based on other Marvel Rivals premium content like the Pick-Up Bundle, it might be in a similar price range, but that's just speculation for now.
All Combat Chest Rewards
Unfortunately, Marvel Rivals hasn't announced the exact list of rewards that you can earn from the Combat Chest yet. What they have told us is that the chest will be "packed with costumes and related content, Emojis, Mood icons, and more rare treasures."
This tells us we can expect:
- Hero costumes
- Emoji packs
- Mood icons
- Other cosmetic items (sprays, nameplates, etc.)
The premium combat chest will definitely have better rewards compared to the free version.

Combat Chest Availability
The Combat Chest will be available for a limited time only. Here are the dates:
- Start Date: May 30, 2025 at 09:00:00 UTC
- End Date: July 11, 2025 at 09:00:00 UTC
That gives you about 6 weeks to claim your rewards. Remember, if you activate the Premium Combat Chest, it becomes permanently available to you even after this event period ends. You'll still be able to claim any rewards you've unlocked but haven't picked up yet.
The timing works out pretty well since it runs alongside other Season 2.5 content, including the new Ultron hero release and the Cerebro Database II event.
