Marvel Rivals is riding high with the excitement of the Season 2.5 update, but that hasn’t stopped fans from looking ahead to what's coming next, Season 3! Thanks to a combination of in-game lore and reliable leaks, we already have a few strong hints about what Season 3 might bring. From potential new heroes to a cosmic-themed storyline, here’s everything you need to know about Marvel Rivals Season 3, including its expected release date, theme, and hero predictions.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Release Date
Based on the usual update timeline since the launch of Marvel Rivals, Season 3 is expected to release on July 11, 2025.
However, the developers have confirmed that starting with Season 3, the season duration will be shortened to just two months. This means the mid-season update will arrive only one month after the season begins, potentially bringing a new hero every month. Exciting times ahead!
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Theme Speculation

There are still no teasers or visual hints about the theme of Season 3, understandably so, as Season 2.5 has only just begun. However, the in-game comic lore from Season 2.5 has been revealed, and it offers a strong hint at what Season 3 might be about.
Here’s the lore that suggests the possible theme for Season 3:
"With Cerebro captured, a desperate Emma Frost negotiates in secret with Doom 2099 — X-Tron's head in exchange for the excess chronal energy flooding Krakoa. But can Victor von Doom be trusted to hold up his end of the bargain?
During the fight on Arakko, Hawkeye and Iron Fist are infected with the Ultron Virus. Able to stave off the mind control thanks to the Winter Soldier's mental exercises, our heroes join Magneto and turn the tables to retrieve Cerebro.
After using Krakoa's chronal energy to defeat X-Tron, Doom 2099 double-crosses his allies and turns his newfound powers against them. But Victor made a critical error leaving Tony's resurrected Ultron alive, and the "reformed" robot lands a killing blow
Before our heroes can celebrate their victory, Adam Warlock is alerted to the reemergence of the demiurge Knull. If the group is to stand a chance against one of the primal forces of the universe, they'll need to recruit one of their own..."
Based on the lore, after the usual shenanigans with Doctor Doom, a new threat emerges, and it's massive. In the final paragraph, it's revealed that the demiurge Knull has reemerged.
If you're unfamiliar, Knull is a cosmic-level villain in the Marvel Universe who created the symbiotes and embodies darkness and destruction. He’s a primordial entity older than the universe itself, born in the void before creation, long before planets or life ever existed.
After being defeated and cast into the void, Knull began forging living weapons from his own essence, these would become the symbiotes. Eventually, the symbiotes rebelled and imprisoned him within a living planet made entirely of symbiote matter. That prison planet is called Klyntar, which in the symbiote language means "cage."

From this, it's safe to assume that Season 3's theme will revolve around Klyntar and the rise of Knull. A symbiote-themed season is likely, featuring dark, cosmic aesthetics and lore-heavy content. Considering Jeff the Land Shark just got a Symbiote Shenanigans Team-Up with Venom in Season 2.5, there's even a chance Jeff might get a fan-favorite symbiote skin in Season 3.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Possible New Heroes

There is still little to no official information regarding new heroes in Season 3. However, from the in-game lore that I have mentioned above, especially the last paragraph, there is a huge hint that points toward a possible name to be included: Phoenix.
It is said in the lore: "If the group is to stand a chance against one of the primal forces of the universe, they'll need to recruit one of their own…"
If they're hinting at another Demiurge, one name immediately comes to mind. The Phoenix is one of the most powerful cosmic entities in the Marvel Universe, often tied to Jean Grey of the X-Men.
Jean Grey has a strong chance of being introduced soon, especially since previous leaks have revealed her potential skill set. Her name was also cheekily referenced during the Hellfire Gala event in Season 2.
However, many players are also speculating about Wiccan, who is known as a Demiurge in the comics, as a potential new hero in this Klyntar-themed season. While it's definitely possible, the current hints seem to point more strongly toward Phoenix than Wiccan. Still, anything can happen in the Marvel Rivals universe!
Season 3.5

If we're talking about a Klyntar and cosmic-themed season, another name naturally connected to this narrative is Captain Marvel. She's had multiple encounters with symbiotes, beings originating from Klyntar, especially during major Marvel storylines.
In the King in Black (2020) event, Captain Marvel plays a prominent role in the battle against Knull, teaming up with heroes like Iron Man, Thor, and Venom to stop the symbiote god’s rampage.
At one point, Carol is even temporarily bonded with a symbiote, granting her enhanced powers and a sleek black symbiote-infused appearance, a perfect opportunity for a potential new skin!
Leaks have already hinted at Captain Marvel’s inclusion in Marvel Rivals, including datamined voice lines. We've also discussed her possible role as a Vanguard hero, including predicted abilities and gameplay mechanics. With all these connections, her arrival seems not only likely, but thematically perfect for a Klyntar-focused season.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Possible New Map
Given the possible Klyntar theme for Season 3, it's highly likely that we'll see a brand-new Klyntar map introduced to match the season's narrative direction. Currently, Marvel Rivals does not feature a Klyntar-themed Domination map, making it a strong candidate for the next Capture Point battleground.
Additionally, Klyntar has no Convoy map either, so it's reasonable to expect a new map for that mode as well. With lore and leaks pointing toward a symbiote-heavy season, new map additions could help flesh out the atmosphere.
That’s everything we know so far about Marvel Rivals Season 3. From the potential Klyntar-themed storyline to the possible arrival of cosmic powerhouses like Phoenix and Captain Marvel, the next season is shaping up to be exciting.
