Marvel is bringing back one of its most talked-about comic formats this summer. After being gone for 30 years, the Marvel Swimsuit Special is making a comeback on July 9, 2025. Even better, this special issue will include designs for new swimsuit skins coming to Marvel Rivals.
What Is The Marvel Swimsuit Special?
If you weren't around in the 90s, you might not know about the Marvel Swimsuit Special. It was a yearly comic that showed Marvel heroes and villains in beach outfits and swimwear. These specials were mostly about the art that brought characters to beaches, tropical islands, or other sunny places.
The new issue is called "Marvel Swimsuit Special: Friends, Foes & Rivals #1." It follows Janet Van Dyne (The Wasp) as she sets up a fashion shoot after finding out that Roxxon Comics put out an unauthorized swimsuit magazine.
What makes this extra special and interesting is the tie-in with Marvel Rivals. Since its release, Marvel Rivals has become one of Marvel's most successful non-MCU projects.
The comic will showcase new summer-themed costumes that will be added to the game. This is part of a trend we've seen with other games as well, such as League of Legends, where summer brings beach-themed skins for characters.
Marvel Rivals Swimsuit Special Summer Skins Release Date
The Marvel Swimsuit Special will hit comic stores on July 9, 2025. Based on the timing, we expect the Marvel Rivals swimsuit skins to arrive around the same time, likely with Season 3 of the game. However, it's important to note that NetEase hasn't officially announced when these swimsuit skins will actually be released in the game.

With Marvel Rivals adding a new character every now and then and Ultron already lined up, we can expect one of these characters to join the roster soon, but please remember nothing has been confirmed, and this is based on speculations and previous leaks!
