Marvel Mystic Mayhem Scarlet Witch

Marvel Mystic Mayhem New Player Guide – Rerolling, Free-to-Play, Tips

Mystic Mayhem is a tactical RPG gacha game featuring characters from the popular Marvel universe. The game offers a variety of exciting game modes and activities to explore. It is possible to enjoy Marvel Mystic Mayhem without spending any money. You can build strong teams and progress through majority of the content, all you need to do is to manage your resources better.

If you’ve just started playing and are struggling to progress or unsure of what to do, this beginner’s guide will cover everything you need to know to advance in Mystic Mayhem, and show you exactly how to maximize your resources and build characters without opening your wallet.

Rerolling

Getting started in Marvel Mystic Mayhem can feel overwhelming with all the heroes and choices available. If you want to give yourself the best possible start, rerolling is your best bet.

To reroll, make sure you're using a Guest account and haven’t bound it to your email yet. Play the game, follow the instructions, complete the main story quests, and go through the tutorial until you reach Team Level 8.

If you've collected all available in-game rewards from daily and 7-day missions, you’ll receive a total of 15 Shadow Keys and 550 Dreamgems, enough to perform a reroll. If you want more pulls, push your level to 13 to get 18 Shadow Keys and 750 Dreamgems.

Now it’s time to gacha. If you’re lucky and get the characters you’re aiming for, go ahead and bind your Guest account to your email to make it your permanent ID.

However, if you’re not satisfied and want to reroll again, exit the game. Before logging back in, click the User button on the right side of the screen. Then, go to the last tab on the left and select Start New Game to begin a new Guest account.

Current Marvel Mystic Mayhem Banners

Right now, Marvel Mystic Mayhem has two main banners you can summon from. The first one is called Forge the Future, and the second is Legends Assemble.

Forge the Future features Iron Man as the main 3-star rate-up character. You'll also find Falcon and Sentry as featured 2-star heroes in this banner. The rates are higher for these specific characters, which means you have a better chance of pulling them compared to other heroes.

Legends Assemble works similarly but doesn't have boosted rates for any character. This banner doesn't include Iron Man, Falcon, or Sentry, but it does have all the other characters.

Which Banner Should You Pull For?

Here's where things get a bit tricky. You should use your Shadow Keys on Legends Assemble and spend your Dreamgems on Forge the Future. This approach gives you the best chance of getting top-tier heroes from both banners.

When you reach Team Level 8, you'll have around 15 Shadow Keys and 550 Dreamgems to work with. If you push to Level 13 before rerolling, you'll get about 18 Shadow Keys and 750 Dreamgems. So the choice is yours if you want to add a little effort to get those extra few pulls.

Remember that each pull costs 150 Dreamgems, so you can do about 18 pulls at Level 8, or 23 pulls at Level 13. Make sure to collect all your keys from mail, daily missions, download rewards, story mode completion, and first-step gifts before you start summoning.

What Are the Characters You Should Look For?

Marvel Mystic Mayhem - Iron Man Full Image

The heroes you're hunting for depend on which banner you're pulling from:

  • From Forge the Future, Iron Man is the big prize. He's one of the strongest Strikers in the current game and can carry your team through most content. If you manage to pull him, stop rerolling and keep that account. Other excellent pulls from this banner include Scarlet Witch, Emma Frost, Doctor Strange, and Thor. Any of these heroes are worth keeping your account for.
  • From Legends Assemble, you won't find Iron Man, but you can still get Scarlet Witch, Emma Frost, Doctor Strange, and Thor. All of these are S-tier characters in their respective classes and work well in most team setups.

Don't overlook some of the 2-star heroes either. If you get multiple copies of Hulk, Lady Bullseye, or Armor, they can be solid foundation pieces for your team, especially if you're getting tired of rerolling.

Mystic Mayhem Reroll Tier List

Here's how we rank the 3-star characters for rerolling purposes:

Top Priority: Iron Man > Thor > Scarlet Witch > Emma Frost/Doctor Strange > Juggernaut > Spider-Man (You can get Storm for free, hence we didn't add her to this list)

Iron Man sits at the top because that's the only way to get him for now, and he is quite strong! Thor follows closely as the best Fighter class hero. Scarlet Witch brings incredible damage potential, while Emma Frost and Doctor Strange offer amazing support abilities.

For 2-star characters, if you are tired of rerolling and done with it, focus on Hulk, Lady Bullseye, and Armor if you get multiple copies (you get these three characters for free through natural progression as well; however, the duplicates will help you unlock the soul bonds).

How Much Time Does It Take Per Account to Reroll?

Each reroll attempt takes about 20-30 minutes if you're aiming for Level 8-10. The early stages move pretty quickly, so you don't have to worry about spending hours on each attempt. The process becomes routine after a few attempts. You'll get familiar as you keep rerolling, making each subsequent reroll faster and more efficient.

Should You Reroll in Marvel Mystic Mayhem?

Rerolling in Marvel Mystic Mayhem is definitely worth considering, especially if you want to have the strongest possible start. The game gives you plenty of resources early on, and getting a top-tier character like Iron Man or Thor can make your entire experience much smoother.

However, rerolling isn't mandatory. If you pull some decent 2-star characters or even one solid 3-star hero, you can still have a start!

Consider your own patience level too. Some players enjoy the rerolling process and see it as part of the game's strategy. Others find it tiring and would rather just start playing with whatever they get. There's no wrong choice here - it depends on what kind of player you are.

If you do decide to reroll, set a limit for yourself. Maybe decide that you'll reroll up to 10 times, or for 2-3 hours maximum. This prevents you from getting stuck in an endless reroll loop and actually lets you start enjoying the game.

Remember to check our tier list if you're unsure about keeping a particular set of heroes. The meta can shift over time, but the characters mentioned in this guide should serve you well for weeks to come. Good luck with your pulls and may the gacha gods be with you!

Redeem Codes and Claim Free Rewards

Make sure to participate in all the available events in-game and redeem all the rewards sent to the inbox.

  • Login Events are the easiest to participate in and typically give you free summons and a guaranteed character (right now, Moon Girl). Never miss daily logins during these events!
  • Right now, there is a "7 Days mission" going on, which rewards you with Storm, summons, XP, and a lot of other resources.
  • Limited-time events such as Mystic Clash, Eye of Nightmare, and Time Reversal offer various rewards as well.

Check the events tab regularly as some events are time-sensitive!

A full list of active codes can also be found here.

Daily, Weekly, and Main Missions

After binding your account, your next priority should be completing daily, weekly, and main missions. These missions reward you with:

  • Valuable resources and materials
  • Substantial Team EXP (used to raise the level cap of your heroes)
  • Summon keys for more pulls

The most important thing you can do as a free-to-play player is complete your daily missions every single day. These missions give you the best way to level up your account, which unlocks more content and raises the level cap for your heroes.

You only need to complete four out of the available missions each day, and they're usually pretty easy. Things like "complete 3 battles," and they don't take much time, but give you valuable account experience (400 XP daily) and resources.

Missing daily missions means missing out on free materials. Set a reminder on your phone if you need to - these missions are that important for free players.

Beyond daily missions, Marvel Mystic Mayhem features main missions and achievements that provide good rewards. These are essential for F2P progression and shouldn't be overlooked.

Progression & Resource Management

Many players, myself included, sometimes feel frustrated when completing a mission with only 1 or 2 stars. The urge to replay it until getting 3 stars is strong. However, it’s important to understand that the game often expects you to come back later with stronger heroes.

Instead of wasting time trying to perfect every mission, it’s better to keep progressing through the game. Focus on leveling up your heroes and improving your team, then return to earlier missions later to earn full completion.

Marvel Mystic Mayhem has several different modes like Nightfall, Crimson Campaign, and others. Each mode gives rewards for completing stages, so don't ignore them just because they seem secondary.

For example, the Explore feature lets you send two teams of characters on expeditions to gather rewards automatically. The best part is you can still use these characters in other game modes while they're on expedition.

Check the rewards for each expedition and choose ones that give you materials you're currently lacking. This passive income adds up over time and requires almost no effort on your part.

Beyond the basic daily activities, there are several advanced strategies that can significantly boost your progress as a free player.

  • Combat Simulator Usage: Once you can three-star a stage, you can use the combat simulator to instantly complete it without playing through the battle. This saves time and lets you farm materials much more efficiently.
  • Crafting Lower Materials: Many rare materials can be crafted from common ones you get while farming. Check the crafting menu regularly to see if you can combine materials you have in abundance to create ones you need. (You can also scrap the higher-tier ones to make the lower tier ones)
  • Ascension Timing: Don't ascend characters just because you can. Wait until you actually need the extra power to progress further. Ascension materials are rare, and you might pull a better character later who deserves those resources more.

Orb Power Management

Orb Power is the energy required to participate in essential game modes like Battle Bonanza, Orb Power is your energy system, and as a free player, you can't afford to waste any of it. This energy regenerates over time, but it has a cap, so make sure it never sits at maximum.

Here's what each farming mode gives you:

  • Battle Bonanza provides Tactic Reports and Mysterium Coins for leveling up characters. Farming this once every few days should be enough, as the higher your level gets, the more time you will require to reach the next level cap. What we mean is that although the amount of resources required to increase the character level will increase but you will also get more time to grind for these resources as required XP increases as well.
  • Treasure Hunt gives you materials to ascend your heroes. Focus on this when you are close to the character's ascension level.
  • Rune Raid drops materials for upgrading character talents. Talent upgrades make a huge difference in character performance, so don't skip this mode.
  • Fabled Finds provides artifacts and materials to upgrade them. Artifacts give significant stat boosts to your characters.

Set up a routine where you check these modes throughout the day. Even if you can only run a few stages at a time, it's better than letting your Orb Power sit at the cap and waste potential resources.

Add Friends and Join an Alliance

Join an alliance as soon as possible. Alliance missions give you access to special currency and alliance shop.

Add friends and send daily gifts to each other. Receiving gifts gives you 3 Orb Power each time, which might seem small, but adds up when you have many active friends.

Story and Memento

In Memento mode, completing main missions unlocks smaller side missions that give 15 Dreamgems each. These are usually easy to complete and provide excellent value for free players. You can speed run through chapters initially. The game rewards you for perfect completion even if you do it after initially clearing the content.

Story missions (branch and stem) work similarly - focus on progression first, then return for perfect stars when your team is stronger. Each perfect completion gives rewards when you collect a specific amount of stars in that chapter.

Building Your Heroes

Technically, all characters in Marvel Mystic Mayhem are "free" (if you are lucky) since you don't need to buy them directly with real money. However, the rarity and luck factor come into play since you need to pull them from banners.

After your first 40 pulls on the Legends Assemble banner, you get one random 3-star character from this group: Thor, Doctor Strange, Emma Frost, or Juggernaut.

All four of these characters are excellent and can carry you through a lot of content when paired with the two-star characters we will recommend later in this section. If you're wondering which one needs fewer resources to be effective, here's the priority order: Thor > Doctor Strange/Emma Frost > Juggernaut.

But even if you don't get lucky with those pulls, there are fantastic free characters you can build around:

  • Hulk is probably the best free Defender in the game. You get him early, and he's amazing at both taking damage and dealing it back. He can regenerate health, and his area damage helps clear groups of enemies quickly.
  • Armor comes later through story mode, but she's worth the wait. She's actually the best tank in the game when it comes to protecting your team.
  • Lady Bullseye performs just as well as most 3-star Strikers. She focuses on single-target damage, which makes her perfect for taking down tough enemies quickly. She can easily carry you from early game all the way to mid-game content.
  • Sleepwalker is the best free Controller character that you get early in the game.

Other 2-star characters worth investing in include Angela, Sentry, Misty Knight, and Psylocke. These characters can fill gaps in your team composition.

You can also check our tier list and also figure out your playstyle, then invest heavily in characters that rank high and work well together. For example, if you get Emma Frost, you should also invest in Hulk because these two characters complement each other perfectly, rather than investing in characters that don't work well with her.

Each character has four main upgrade paths: talent tree, star level, soul saga (requires duplicates), and basic character level (team level). Focus on the talent tree and character level first!

For characters you use in secondary content raids, just level them up for basic stats, but don't invest in expensive upgrades like talents or star upgrades.

A common mistake new players make is ignoring upgrades. Always upgrade your heroes, Artifacts, and Highlights, as they significantly boost your team’s power.

  • Upgrading Artifacts and Highlights improves the items' base stats, directly increasing your heroes’ overall performance.
  • Upgrading skills on your main roster is essential for tackling high-level content and maximizing their effectiveness in battle.

Right now, the game lets you reset characters, Highlights, and artifacts for free. You can use this to your advantage by leveling up characters just to get the Dreamgem rewards, then resetting them.

Each character gives you 10 Dreamgems for reaching certain level milestones. Level up characters you don't plan to use permanently, collect the gems, then reset them and use those gems for summoning.

There are three reward tiers for this, so you can accumulate a surprising amount of premium currency using this method.

Building Your Team

When building your team composition, try to balance the four main classes:

  • Defender (Tanks)
  • Fighter (Melee DPS)
  • Striker (Ranged DPS)
  • Controller (Support/Healer)

Each class has its own role and strengths. Mixing and matching these classes will help you discover what fits your playstyle best.

Recommended balanced composition:

  • 1 Defender
  • 1 Striker or Fighter
  • 1 Controller

This setup offers a strong balance of defense, offense, and support, ideal for most game content. However, when clearing lower-level stages, you can skip the Defender or Controller and go with 2 Strikers and 1 Fighter to speed up battles.

The biggest mistake free players make is spreading their resources too thin. You want to focus on building 3 main characters at first, rather than trying to upgrade everyone equally.

Dreamdust

Dreamdust is an in-game currency obtained by recycling excess duplicate Highlights. It can be exchanged in the Dreamweaver Converter shop for various useful items.

Dreamdust is purple-colored dust, do not confuse it with Dreamsand, the golden-colored sand, which is better saved for acquiring Keys and Legendary Highlights.

When spending Dreamdust, always prioritize purchasing the Great Key and Shadow Key, both of which have a monthly purchase limit of 5. Once these are sold out, you can use your remaining Dreamdust to buy materials that help with leveling up and upgrading your characters.

Should You Spend Money?

As a free player, you can absolutely enjoy Marvel Mystic Mayhem and compete effectively. The game provides enough free resources to build strong teams and progress through all content. If you do decide to spend a small amount, the battle pass offers the best value. But it's definitely not necessary to enjoy the game.

The key is patience and smart resource management. Free players just need to be more strategic about their choices, but the payoff of building a strong team without spending money can be very satisfying.

While Marvel Mystic Mayhem is quite generous to free players, there are specific areas where you'll face more challenges compared to spending players. Understanding these bottlenecks helps you plan better and set realistic expectations.

Merlin Stone Shortage is probably the biggest hurdle for F2P players. These stones come in different rarities and are essential for evolving characters to higher star levels. Unfortunately, Merlin Stones are quite rare and have limited sources for free players.

The main ways to get Merlin Stones without spending money are:

  • Nightfall event rewards (limited attempts per period)
  • Team level-up rewards (one-time rewards as you progress)
  • Occasional event rewards

The shop sells Merlin Stones for Dreamstones (premium currency). This means character evolution will be much slower for F2P accounts.

Soul Saga Progression is another challenge since it requires duplicate characters to unlock soul bonds. Free players get fewer summons, which means fewer duplicates overall. This makes it much harder to fully unlock a character's potential through their Soul Saga tree.
