Marvel Mystic Mayhem Teams

Marvel Mystic Mayhem Teams – Best Comps for Each Mode

Team composition is everything in Marvel Mystic Mayhem - the right combination of characters can really help you walk through every mode in the game with ease. Following the launch of latest update and Namor joining the roster, we've refreshed this guide to update it in accordance with the current meta. Whether you're tackling new content or playing the existing modes, this guide covers all the important team-building strategies you need to easily complete any challenge in Marvel Mystic Mayhem.

Understanding the Four Character Roles

Before diving into team compositions, you need to understand the four main roles and two main weaknesses in Marvel Mystic Mayhem. Each team consists of three units, and you can choose your composition based on what type of enemy you are up against, what their weakness are, and your playstyle.

  • Striker characters are ranged damage dealers.
  • Fighter characters are melee units that serve as semi-tanks and semi-damage dealers.
  • Controller characters are support units who focus on healing, buffing allies, and debuffing enemies.
  • Defender characters are tanks designed to absorb damage and act as the frontline.

Most Effective Team Structures

These are the team composition structures that work best across most game modes:

  • 1 Striker + 1 Defender + 1 Controller - This is the most balanced composition that works well in almost all content. You get reliable damage, strong protection, and consistent healing/support.
  • 1 Striker + 1 Defender + 1 Fighter - A more offense-focused setup that trades some support for extra damage. Good for content where you need to clear enemies quickly.
  • 1 Controller + 1 Fighter + 1 Defender (Defensive setup)
  • 2 Defender + 1 Controller (Defensive setup)

The reason it's hard to run multiple Strikers is that they're extremely vulnerable once your Defender goes down. Defenders are generally very strong right now, with characters like Armor, Hulk, and Juggernaut leading the pack. Many Defenders also deal decent damage, which can compensate for having fewer pure damage dealers.

Best F2P Team Compositions

Completely Free Team (No Banner Pulls Needed)

Hulk + Lady Bullseye + Sleepwalker

You can get this team within the first 15 minutes of playing, and it can carry you surprisingly far. Hulk and Lady Bullseye are both S-tier characters that you can easily grind resources for. Sleepwalker is currently the best free Controller in the game.

This team covers all your basic needs: Hulk tanks and deals area damage, Lady Bullseye provides excellent single-target damage, and Sleepwalker keeps everyone alive while adding extra damage with his ultimate.

Once you unlock Armor from Chapter 4 (around account level 40), you can consider swapping her for Hulk if you need more pure tanking ability. However, Hulk's damage output often makes him the better choice for most content.

After Your First 40 Banner Pulls

The game guarantees you one 3-star character after the first 40 pulls from these options: Thor, Doctor Strange, Emma Frost, or Juggernaut. Here are the best team setups for each:

  • If you get Thor: Hulk + Thor + Lady Bullseye: This gives you incredible area damage with both Hulk and Thor, while Lady Bullseye handles single targets.
  • If you get Doctor Strange: Hulk + Doctor Strange + Lady Bullseye. Doctor Strange provides amazing healing and support, making this team very durable.
  • If you get Emma Frost: Emma Frost + Hulk + Lady Bullseye. This is arguably the best pull because Emma and Hulk have amazing synergy through debuffs.
  • If you get Juggernaut: While Juggernaut is strong, he requires more resources than Hulk to reach his potential. For F2P players, sticking with Hulk is usually the better choice unless you're willing to invest heavily in Juggernaut.

Mode-Specific Team Strategies

Bifrost Brawl

In this mode, you will be locking in a team to fight other players. Personally, we have found the most success running a team that prioritizes sustain over damage. However, we recommend using characters that you have invested the most in. Also, please look at our guide on meta characters to know which characters are currently the best to invest in. Here are a few characters you can build your team with:

Nightfall: Dragon Armor

In this mode, you will need to have a mix of both AoE and single-target damage. Here are a few characters that work well in this mode:

Battle Bonanza Mode

This mode has two different types that require different approaches:

Mysterium Coin Stages

You need to defeat 20-35-50 enemies within 1 minute. Since enemies won't be attacking you directly and your goal is to take down maximum units, characters with area damage excel here. Best choices: Sentry, Angela, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Storm.

Tactic Report Stages

You fight three separate enemies and need to complete within 30/50/70 seconds. Single-target damage is important here. Best choices: Psylocke, Lady Bullseye, Scarlet Witch, Doppelganger, Misty Knight.

Treasure Hunt Mode

This mode is divided into four class-specific sections, each with a bonus tile for that class type. You can use any characters, but placing the matching class on the bonus tile gives buffs.

Striker Section

Use 2 Fighters with AoE damage + 1 Striker (preferably meta ones such as Scarlet Witch, Iron Man or Lady Bullseye). If you want a Defender, choose damage-dealers like Hulk, Angela, Sentry, or Armor.

Defender Section

The Thing

This is the hardest section due to area debuffs. Use 2 tanks + 1 Striker or meta Controller (Doctor Strange/Emma Frost). F2P options: Armor/Angela/Hulk/Captain America as tanks, Lady Bullseye as Striker. Thor is also a good choice in this mode.

Controller Section

The easiest section. Use area damage characters with a Controller. Emma Frost excels here alongside characters like Angela, Hulk, Iron Man, or Thor.

Fighter Section

You fight Dark Page here, so you need single-target focus for the Dark Page and area damage for adds. Use 2 Fighters + 1 Striker. Thor works great for area damage, Psylocke/Doppelganger for single-target, and Lady Bullseye/Iron Man/Scarlet Witch as your Striker. Angela and Hulk are also a decent choice in this section.

Fabled Finds (Artifact Farming)

Each day features different bosses with specific weaknesses:

Lady Bullseye Boss (Wipe Them Out)

Mix single-target and area characters. Good combo: Hulk + Emma Frost + Iron Man. Substitute Lady Bullseye/Psylocke/Thor for Iron Man if needed.

Juggernaut Boss (Arcane Avatar)

Weak to special damage. Use Hulk, Thor, Emma Frost, Scarlet Witch, or Psylocke. If you don't have these characters, you can also use Lady Bullseye (however, she will deal less damage due to the resistance, but it will still be quite noticeable).

Thread Boss (Brutal Onslaught)

Weak to physical damage. Best picks: Angela, Armor, Lady Bullseye, Iron Man, Spider-Man.

Doppelganger Boss (Pick the Battle)

Focus on single-target damage. Lady Bullseye or Scarlet Witch for Strikers, Armor, or Juggernaut for Defender, Psylocke for Fighter, Spider-Man for Controller. In case you don't have Juggernaut and Armor you can also use Hulk in that case.

Story and Memento Modes

These modes have different enemies and conditions, so flexibility is key. Consider enemy weaknesses and mission requirements when building and deploying teams.

For most content, Hulk and Lady Bullseye remain excellent foundation pieces. Vary your third character based on what each level requires.

  • Recommended 2-star characters: Armor, Angela, Sentry, Psylocke
  • Recommended 3-star characters: Emma Frost, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Juggernaut, Captain America

Mix and match these characters based on the team compositions we discussed earlier (1 Striker + 1 Defender + 1 Controller, etc.) and keep in mind the weaknesses of the enemies you'll be fighting. Pay attention to whether you'll face single target bosses or swarms of enemies.

For swarm stages, prioritize area damage dealers like Thor, Hulk, or Iron Man in your compositions. Against single bosses, focus on characters like Lady Bullseye, Psylocke, or Scarlet Witch who excel at single-target damage. Always check enemy weaknesses before entering - if enemies are weak to special damage, bring characters like Thor or Emma Frost; if they're weak to physical damage, go with Lady Bullseye. Here is a quick visual of good characters from different types that you can mix and match to form a good team.

Defenders

Strikers

Fighters

Controllers

Crimson Campaign

This mode features multiple waves before you reach the main boss fight. Build balanced teams that can handle both swarms and single targets.

A good general approach: 1 Defender + 1 Controller/Fighter with area damage + 1 Striker with single-target focus. Try to unlock Attack Speed buff bonuses, when it scales, they will deal heavy damage quickly.

Example for "Special Damage Weakness" campaigns: Scarlet Witch, Hulk, Emma Frost, Thor, Psylocke all deal special damage and cover both area and single-target needs.

Recommended characters based on campaign levels:

  • Level 25 (Juggernaut Boss): Currently under construction - specific strategies coming soon.
  • Level 30 (Hulk Boss): Currently under construction - specific strategies coming soon.
  • Level 40 (Scarlet Witch Boss): All enemies have special damage weakness. Recommended characters: Scarlet Witch, Hulk, Emma Frost, Thor, Psylocke. Focus on characters that deal special damage while maintaining a balance of area and single-target capabilities.

Recommended Team Compositions

Here is a list of meta team compositions for players that can get them through most of the content (both f2p options and players willing to spend):

  • Iron Man + Armor/Juggernaut + Doctor Strange
  • Thor + Scarlet Witch/Hulk + Emma Frost
  • Angela + Hulk + Emma Frost
  • Lady Bullseye + Hulk/Armor/Juggernaut + Sleepwalker
  • Scarlet Witch + Emma Frost + Hulk/Armor
  • Psylocke + Lady Bullseye + Hulk
  • Captain America + Thor + Emma Frost
  • Invisible Woman + Emma Frost + Hulk
  • Invisible Woman + Human Torch + Juggernaut
  • Spiderman + Lady Bullseye + Namor
  • Echo + Namor + Lady Bullseye

Remember that team composition is just one part of success; proper character upgrades, artifacts, and highlights are equally important. A well-built "weaker" team will often outperform a poorly built "stronger" one.
