Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Competitive Meta Analysis: Dive Strikes Back

Welcome back to my Marvel Rivals Competitive Meta Analysis series! If you missed the latest report last week, get caught up here. There’s a lot of meta trends to discuss in the third week of season 2.5, so let’s dive in. A new balance patch hit last week so we have fresh insights into how hero adjustments are affecting hero & team-up performance.

In this series, I’ll examine and analyze week-over-week shifts in the Rivals Competitive meta across the entire roster, all ranks, and all platforms. I’ll discuss trends and identify opportunities for heroes that may be positioned to outperform relative to the rest of the roster.

How are heroes scored and weighted?

My analysis uses a simple weighted scoring system to evaluate hero performance. Data is centralized and snapshotted from multiple third-party tools. Win rate, pick rate, and ban rate are locked in for each hero at the start of the week, then again after seven days have passed. I then examine the shifts in performance and pass everything through a weighted scoring system.

In season 2.5, we improved the weighted scoring system by factoring in a new ‘Synergy’ metric. This examines the delta between a hero’s average team-up win rate and their blended win rate which includes all match data with or without a team-up. A higher delta between team-up win rate and blended win rate means a hero is more synergistic and can capture a lot of value when prioritizing team compositions. This new synergy metric reflects 10% of the weighted scoring system going forward, with its percentage share being taken from blended win rate.

Hero Rankings Weighted Scoring = (7.5x win rate) + (1x pick rate) + (1x synergy) - (0.5x ban rate)

The idea is simple. Win rate should be the most significant factor in ranking heroes. Pick rate evaluated and factored in. How often players are picking certain heroes can be indicative of power or at least preference. Synergy is also factored in at 10% to evaluate and weigh the value of a hero’s team-ups.

Why is ban rate penalized in the weighted scoring model? Aren’t heroes that are being banned more frequently more likely to be OP?

Ban rate can be a decent proxy for power level—or at least annoyance to play against. Unfortunately, it also works against you when selecting which characters to play and specialize in competitive. There is an opportunity cost to picking, practicing, and playing a character that is likely to get banned. In general, the more you play on a hero, the more you can expect to improve and for those improvements to be represented in your overall win rate with a hero. If you are unable to play your main over a third of competitive games you play, you are potentially hamstringing your performance and practice time with improving and mastering those heroes.

Another thing to note is that ban rate effectively reduces the pick rate of heroes. While a banned hero would not always have been picked for play in a game, the higher the ban rate, the more likely it is that a player who wants to cannot play that character in a match. Therefore, I’ve factored in a penalty for ban rate in my weighted scoring model. The lower the ban rate, the lower the penalty. Ban rate penalty currently represents 5% of a character’s weighted score.

Weekly Performance

There were no adjustments made to the Weekly Performance weighted scoring formula this week.

This weighted scoring system looks at the change or delta (Δ) between the current week's data and the previous week's snapshot. This gives us a good trend of how heroes are progressing and allows us to identify the biggest winners and losers of the week. In this category, heroes who are winning more, being picked more, and being banned less will receive more of a lift. Heroes who are performing worse week over week will be ranked lower in this list.

The scoring system weights for this category must be different from base rankings. Hero win rates remain relatively stable week to week without a balance patch, but pick rates vary drastically as the meta evolves. Using the same weighted system for rankings would result in scores being almost entirely driven by changes to pick rate alone, which paints a severely skewed and flawed glimpse of actual performance.

Weekly Performance Scoring = (20x Δwin rate) + (2x Δpick rate) - (3x Δban rate)

Once Weekly Performance values are created, I run a z-score analysis to determine how many standard deviations (σ) each data point is from the mean of the set to look for statistical outliers and put everything on a comparable scale for analysis. This helps with machine learning and data smoothing/reliability over time.

The Weekly Performance category highlights the biggest winners and losers of the week, and often, the changes and weekly shifts are very subtle, especially as the meta starts to stabilize. But every marginal advantage you can stack in your favor can make a huge difference in your climb, amplified and compounded over the number of games you play. Likewise, every marginal disadvantage you continue to play will adversely affect your results. Here’s a simple graph that illustrates the concept:

The Power of Tiny Gains Graph

The limitations of weighted scoring systems

With the amount of data to gather, compile, calculate, and analyze, it would require substantial effort to segment everything into different Elo brackets for ranked play. To overcome this limitation, I’ll provide callouts in my analysis for certain heroes who are performing well in various competitive rankings. For example, Hela is arguably the best DPS character in the game in Celestial+ lobbies, but is much less frightening in the hands of a Silver player. Less than 8% of the player base is competing in Celestial+ lobbies anyway, so an overall view of the competitive landscape and all its rankings is by default normalized across the entire distribution of the player base.

Improving the model over time

With community and pro feedback, I’ll improve the weighted scoring system over time. It’s likely this is not the optimal form, but it does give a good baseline to compare data over time and early shifts in the Marvel Rivals Season Two Meta. Any additional changes to the weighted scoring system will be called out in future articles in the series.

New Data-Driven Meta Tier list

This meta-analysis article is fueled by tons of data. We’ve taken that data and created an early tier list for all characters using our weighted scoring algorithms and evaluating the competitive landscape as a whole. Check out our season 2.5 tier list here! This tier list will be updated over time.

Marvel Rivals Hero Rankings (Weighted Scoring) Top 5 - 6/27/25

Rocket Raccoon

  • Win Rate: 54.50% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 34.31% (▼ 2%)
  • Ban Rate: 3.58% (▲ 39%)

Rocket Raccoon has been making a huge impact in the competitive meta since his rework at the start of season two and has held a top two slot in our rankings for the entirety of season 2. He’s back on top for the second week in a row in the midseason. A new and powerful team-up makes him even better, and should remain very strong even with the recent nerf. He is a clear and consistent top-performer in the Strategist role and has done so throughout the entire season. Rocket’s overall win rate sits at an amazing 54.50% for the week, with his pick rate falling slightly to 34.31% and ban rate rising to 3.58%. Rocket is notable for a low skill floor and has quickly distinguished himself as the premium strategist pick for the season.

Rocket’s strength comes from the utility of his B.R.B. beacon and effectively turning fights into 7v6s, or erasing an early mistake from your team and giving you a shot to turn around the team fight. He has great healing output and plenty of utility to help his team. Rocket is performing well against most of the roster, but should prioritize banning Magik and/or Peni Parker (unless your team intends on playing Peni as well) based on individual matchup data and week-over-week shifts.

Rocket remains the strongest Strategist pick in a vacuum. Week-over-week, his overall win rate was constant, his pick rate fell by 2%, and his ban rate increased by 39%. It’s clear Rocket is still a great addition to almost any team composition. His team-up with Peni Parker, Rocket Network, propels his win rate up to 64.61% and gives strong utility from Peni’s spider nests since they can consistently pump out shields to the frontline in the middle of conflicts, while also enabling his B.R.B. beacon to dish out damage to unsuspecting foes.

Rocket’s team-up nerf was extremely minimal and barely moved the needle on Rocket Network’s performance.

Peni Parker

  • Win Rate: 56.18% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 11.60% (▼ 4%)
  • Ban Rate: 27.07% (▲ 1%)

Peni Parker’s new team-up with Rocket Raccoon is no joke, and has propelled her blended win rate up to 56.18%. Her pick rate this week was 11.60%.  Peni has been a dominant tank in both offensive and defensive situations. On defense, Peni can set up a defensive stronghold, and on offense, Peni can shift and push the frontline over time through attrition and value, much like Emma Frost. Peni’s overall win rate was flat week-over-week, her pick rate fell 4%, and her ban rate increased 1% and now sits at 27.07%.

Peni Players should try to get the Rocket team-up in as many matches as possible; it’s the strongest thing they can do to improve their overall win rate and maximize the strength of Peni. Rocket Network is being played in 14.91% of all matches and is banned in over 30% of matches and is the second highest ranked team-up in our weighted scoring algorithm for the week across all ranks.

In terms of bans, Peni has favorable matchups against the entire roster. Weekly data suggests that Peni is surprisingly struggling the most against Magik, Black Panther, and Iron Fist. Since Peni lacks poor matchups in general, Peni players should prioritize bans that help the rest of their team and patch individual weaknesses for the characters they want to play. Interestingly, Black Panther and Magik are struggling the most against Peni Parker, but Peni still enjoys a relatively high win rate against these characters due to her massive blended win rate.

Outside of a consistent and drastic increase in Peni’s ban rate, she remains an excellent character to invest in for season 2.5.

Magik

  • Win Rate: 53.14% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 13.02% (▼ 1%)
  • Ban Rate: 1.17% (▲ 10%)

Magik was not a hero I was expecting to see on the highest performing heroes list for the second week in a row, but it’s clear that she still has strength, especially when she can work to ban opposing fliers. Dive has taken a back seat to the poke/flier meta, but Magik still enjoyed great stats this week that propelled her through our weighted scoring algorithm. This week, Magik enjoyed a 53.14% win rate, a pick rate of 13.02%, and a ban rate of just 1.17%.

This week, Dive has shown that it is an increasingly popular strategy for the midseason, and both Magik and Black Panther have gained significant ground. Captain America’s metrics were also up this week as a strong frontline vanguard option to lead dive compositions.

Week-over-week, her overall win rate was flat, her pick rate decreased by 1%, and her ban rate rose by 10%. Clearly, Magik is still a strong performer in the duelist role and is a hero to watch.

A Magik player taking and contesting off angles and flanking routes can pose a problem for poke heroes like Hawkeye, The Punisher, and Hela. Magik will be a reasonable bellwether for how the meta is favoring dive-based compositions or an interesting flex component to some more creative compositions.

Examining the data, the most impactful reason that Dive has been able to make such a rebound in popularity is that many teams are investing their bans on Storm and Iron Man. Dive players who ban Peni Parker AND fliers can effectively diminish the opposing team's ability to fight back and effectively protect their backliners against this aggressive strategy. When bans fall as they usually do, Dive compositions have extremely high ROI and are positioned to outperform against teams who cannot play the best answers to them. It's a classic game of rock, paper, scissors.

Ultron

  • Win Rate: 52.37% (▼ 2%)
  • Pick Rate: 21.54% (▼ 23%)
  • Ban Rate: 7.21% (▲ 2%)

Ultron has been dominating the competitive scene and has been performing incredibly well since his launch. With a 52.37% win rate (down 2% week-over-week) and a pick rate of 21.54%, Ultron is still being played a ton (and is winning his games). Ultron took a big hit in performance this week as the flying meta has been focused down more in the ban phase. But he is still performing well across the board and remains a big threat.

Ultron packs a ton of utility in that he can heal his team while pursuing and contesting off-angles in the air. No damage falloff on his primary fire’s secondary burst also gives strong damage output at range, and skilled Ultron players who focus their fire can augment their team’s potential for securing difficult picks. Ultron’s pick rate fell 23% week-over-week, which is in line with how Emma Frost’s metrics performed. Players are interested in playing the newest hero on the block, so some fall-off of pick rate is expected over time.

Ultron’s ban rate has risen 2% week-over-week. With the Stark Protocol team-up with Iron Man, his overall win rate climbs to a staggering 61.52% (a 17% increase over his blended win rate), providing extra healing and damage output that can help Ultron perform better.

Ultron’s worst matchup by far is Peni Parker, where Ultron’s overall win rate falls to 43.87% (a -12.26% differential in performance). Considering how dominant & popular Peni Parker has been this season, this should be a priority ban for Ultron players, unless someone on your team intends to play Peni and you have a Rocket Raccoon player for the team-up.

Mantis

  • Win Rate: 52.01% (▲ 1%)
  • Pick Rate: 7.30% (▲ 4%)
  • Ban Rate: 0.05% (—)

Mantis received a 10% buff to her primary fire damage this season, after being hit with a couple of nerfs to both her movement speed and overall health that diminished her ability to be a scrappy skirmisher and aggressive strategist weaving powerful healing over time and damage increases for allies and damage potential via her primary fire. Mantis has always been a strong hero and is performing better with the recent balance changes. This week, Mantis enjoyed a 52.01% win rate, a 7.30% pick rate, and a ban rate of only 0.05%, the lowest of any hero for the entire week.

Mantis also enjoys being a part of the strongest team-up in our weighted scoring algorithm—Guardian Revival. With this team-up, her win rate climbs to an astounding 66.52%, an incredible 28% differential from her blended win rate. This team-up got even stronger and was already winning a ton of games before. This team-up is one of the strongest and underutilized things in the game.

Examining her individual matchups, Mantis struggles the most against Peni Parker and Iron Man. Mantis players should prioritize banning Peni Parker and Storm/Iron Man, depending on what characters your team wants to play.

Week-over-week, Mantis’s overall win rate increased by 1%, her pick rate increased by 4%, and her ban rate was flat.

The Hero Ban Watchlist

Right now, Storm,Black Panther, Emma Frost, Bruce Banner, Iron Man, and Peni Parker are all being banned in more than 10% of their matches. Black Panther and Emma Frost are new additions this week, and Wolverine is creeping up to the 10% mark at an 8.75% ban rate. Hawkeye and Groot have both fallen below the 10% ban rate threshold.

Marvel Rivals Hero Weekly Performance Top 5 Winners - 6/27/25

Iron Fist

  • Win Rate: 48.66% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 6.55% (▲ 6%)
  • Ban Rate: 0.57% (▼ 17%)

Iron Fist was nerfed heavily in 2.5 (deserved), but still remains a strong and balanced hero. He is just less oppressive to play against now and has less survivability. This week, Iron Fist enjoyed a 48.66% win rate, a 6.55% pick rate, and a ban rate of only 0.57%.

Considering Iron Fist’s ban rate exceeded 20% at the end of 2.0, he is in a much better place, balance-wise, now with a ban rate of less than 1%. Iron Fist was flagged in weekly performance winners due to a slightly decreased week-over-week pick rate and a drastically decreasing ban rate. His win rate rose very slightly but remains relatively strong and cements Iron Fist’s place as a powerful yet situational addition to certain compositions. When paired with Hawkeye and Luna Snow, players can drastically improve Iron Fist’s utility to the team thanks to the double team-ups.

Hela

  • Win Rate: 48.83% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 13.77% (▼ 2%)
  • Ban Rate: 5.67% (▼ 18%)

Hela was another weekly winner and is a strong answer to multiple fliers. This week, Hela had a 48.83% win rate, a 13.77% pick rate, and a ban rate of 5.67%. Hela players who can hit their shots are at a premium right now and can be a great asset to a team. With some recent nerfs to her evasion, Hela players will need to be especially mindful of their positioning and look to attack off-angles and rely on their Vanguards to soak up damage and keep them safe while securing picks.

Week-over-week, Hela’s win rate was constant, her pick rate fell 2%, and her ban rate fell a massive 18%.

Moon Knight

  • Win Rate: 46.25% (▲ 4%)
  • Pick Rate: 13.61% (▲ 29%)
  • Ban Rate: 0.29% (▲ 32%)

Moon Knight got a slight boost to survivability in the latest patch, moving from 250>275 health. This was another to boost his overall win rate by 4% (up to 46.25%), and improve his pick rate by 29% (up to 13.61%). Moon Knight is a good duelist option, but can struggle to deal with fliers due to his slow projectiles. When enemies like Storm and Iron Man are banned, Moon Knight is better positioned to excel. His Lunar Force team-up with Cloak & Dagger improves his overall win rate to 50.20%, a 9% increase over his blended win rate.

Week-over-week, his win rate increased by 4%, his pick rate increased by 29%, and his ban rate increased by 32%.

Luna Snow

  • Win Rate: 45.16% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 23.24% (—)
  • Ban Rate: 1.91% (▼ 14%)

Luna Snow is mechanically challenging and has still been struggling compared to other strategists across the entire competitive landscape. This week, Luna’s win rate was 45.16%, her pick rate was 23.24%, and her ban rate was 1.91%. Players are much less fearful of her new team-up with Hawkeye, which tends to improve drastically in higher Elos. Luna, Hawkeye, and Chilling Assault struggle to perform the lower level in Elo you go. With a recent nerf to Chilling Assault, Luna lost even more ground this week.

Despite an apparent underperformance in the competitive landscape as a whole, Luna received a lift this week in the form of a rapidly decreasing ban rate, which fell 14% week-over-week. Luna’s week-over-week win rate was nearly constant, and her pick rate was constant.

Luna will continue to be a character to watch. Her recent buffs haven’t moved the needle much, but for strategist players with a lot of mechanical skill, she could be an exceptional edge in competitive play. Luna players with good aim can produce impressive damage output and, due to her hitscan nature, can do well against enemy flying compositions.

Groot

  • Win Rate: 47.12% (▼ 1%)
  • Pick Rate: 8.01% (▼ 5%)
  • Ban Rate: 7.79% (▼ 21%)

Groot was another winner of the week. His win rate this week was 47.12%, his pick rate was 8.01%, and his ban rate was 7.79%. Groot is being banned a lot less after his nerfs and is still a reasonable and well-performing off-tank pick for certain compositions. When fliers are banned, Groot can excel at trapping enemies and still deals a ton of damage with his kit. Groot players need to be more conservative with their Ironwood wall placements and should opt to use this wall and place it off to the side out of harm’s way for the bonus health rather than using it to trap enemies as often.

This week, Groot experienced a 1% decrease in his week-over-week win rate, a 5% lower pick rate, and a 21% decrease in ban rate. Groot mains who are invested in the hero and have gained skill and experience are better positioned to play their hero in more competitive games. With the right bans, this can be a great recipe for success in climbing.

Marvel Rivals Hero Weekly Performance Top 5 Losers -6/27/25

Rocket Racoon

  • Win Rate: 54.50% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 34.31% (▼ 2%)
  • Ban Rate: 3.58% (▲ 39%)

Rocket Raccoon is super strong, but lost some ground this week due to a 2% decrease in pick rate and a 39% increase in ban rate. Rocket players should continue to lock in this hero whenever possible to climb consistently, but should be prepared to play an alternate hero in the few games where Rocket is being banned. If you have a Peni Parker on your team, try to lock in Rocket at all costs and use your beacon offensively and to better create a stronghold on captured objectives.

Loki

  • Win Rate: 50.11% (▲ 1%)
  • Pick Rate: 18.05% (▲ 9%)
  • Ban Rate: 2.08% (▲ 56%)

Loki has been performing quite well across the board this season and has been gaining ground, especially when fliers are banned. Loki struggles both to heal and damage fliers with his kit, and excels when he can focus on ground targets. While he has a high skill cap, Loki players can make a ton of impact for their team and provide a lot of burst healing on targets in critical moments. His healing totem can stop entire ultimates in their tracks for insane value.

This week, Loki experienced a 1% increase in his week-over-week win rate, a 9% higher pick rate, and a 56% increase in ban rate. Backed by the power of Ragnarok Rebirth, Loki surges to new heights with one of the strongest team-ups in the game.

Magneto

  • Win Rate: 47.98% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 29.15% (▼ 5%)
  • Ban Rate: 1.28% (▲ 42%)

Magneto has been a popular and powerful anchor tank this season, especially after some needed buffs in 2.5. As a Magneto Lord myself, it’s been great returning to Magneto in this season. This week, Magneto’s win rate was 47.98%, his pick rate was 29.15%, and his ban rate was just 1.28%.

Magneto is a strong anchor tank and provides a lot of offensive and defensive utility for his team. While Magneto can struggle with pick potential, he has a strong ultimate and the ability to focus damage on key targets to help duelists secure picks, all while being able to protect fragile backliners during critical moments with his bubbles.

Week-over-week, Magneto’s win rate was constant, his pick rate dropped another 5%, and his ban rate increased by 42%.

Magneto players should aim to team up with Emma Frost whenever possible to boost their win rate!

Emma Frost

  • Win Rate: 49.97% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 30.21% (▼ 2%)
  • Ban Rate: 10.13% (▲ 62%)

Emma Frost’s win rate was constant this week. Overall, she sat at a 49.97% win rate, a massive 30.21% pick rate, and a 10.13% ban rate. Emma was flagged as a weekly loser due to a 62% increase in ban rate.

I picked up Emma at the start of the season and never stopped playing her, even after achieving my Lord status on the hero. With the right bans, she becomes oppressive when backed with a decent second tank.

Overall, Emma Frost is still a super strong and well-rounded character that can perform incredibly well, especially when your team chooses to ban fliers like Storm and Iron Man. She’s rightfully being banned in a lot more games.

Black Panther

  • Win Rate: 51.10% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 17.09% (▲ 19%)
  • Ban Rate: 11.22% (▲ 113%)

Black Panther was brought down this week by a massive 113% increase in ban rate as Dive surges back in popularity. Black Panther is strong with or without the Dimensional Shortcut team-up with Magik and is enjoying a resurgence as dive becomes more popular in the meta.

Right now, teams are investing their bans in trying to hamstring flying/poke compositions, so dive can sneak by and often excel when Peni Parker is banned and cannot set up a strong defensive foothold. With a strategic Emma ban, Dive can perform even better and put more pressure on the opposing backline.

Marvel Rivals Top 5 Team-Ups (Weighted Scoring) - 6/27/25

Performing weighted scoring puts these team-ups as the top 5 this week!

Guardian Revival

  • Win Rate: 66.52% (▲ 4%)
  • Pick Rate: 0.74% (▲ 7%)
  • Ban Rate: 0.37% (▲ 9%)

Despite a heavy-handed nerf to Adam Warlock at the start of the season, Guardian Revival remains a top-performing team-up in competitive play based on our weighted scoring system with a massive 66.52% win rate. This team-up gives Mantis and Star-Lord an on-demand rez on cooldown that can shift team fights in your favor. This week, the team-up’s win rate increased by 4%, its pick rate increased by 7%, and its ban rate increased 9%.

As I’ve been saying for WEEKS, this is a diamond in the rough and is something to prioritize in character selection with your team if you want to win more games.

With a buff to Star-Lord in the recent patch, this team-up enjoyed great weekly gains. As I predicted, it was able to dethrone Rocket Network and return to the top of our scored team-ups for the week!

This team-up is even better if you can practice and play consistently with a squad that can pull this off. Players are taking notice, and the opportunity gap may close if this team-up’s pick rate increases drastically. In other words, keep buying it while it’s cheap!

With recent buffs to Mantis and Adam Warlock, this team-up has soared to new heights and is borderline oppressive to opponents. Let’s hope Netease doesn’t take a baseball bat to Adam Warlock’s knees for this one. In the midseason balance patch, I could see a nerf to the team-up itself and an increase to respawn cooldown being implemented to reduce the win rate.

Rocket Network

  • Win Rate: 64.61% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 14.91% (▼ 5%)
  • Ban Rate: 30.65% (▲ 5%)

Rocket Network is crazy strong and held the top rank of team-ups for the second week in a row. The nerf was minimal and barely moved the needle on performance.

This team-up fits well into almost any team composition and enjoys the highest win rate of any team-up in the game. There is so much value in giving Rocket Raccoon an offensive boost while also creating a second spider nest and allowing Peni to regularly output effective healing and armor packs via her nests to the frontline of your team. This team-up really has it all—and crafty Peni players have been saving their second spider nest for when the first one goes down to retain optionality and near-constant uptime of spider nests at the cost of some offensive and defensive utility.

This week, Rocket Network enjoyed a 64.61% win rate, a 14.91% pick rate, and a ban rate of 30.65%. Week-over-week, the win rate was flat, pick rate was down 5%, and ban rate was up another 5%.

My advice for you: Either play this team-up on your team or ban it!

Dimensional Shortcut

  • Win Rate: 62.40% (—)
  • Pick Rate: 4.71% (▲ 11%)
  • Ban Rate: 12.39% (▲ 95%)

Black Panther is in an interesting spot. He is very strong in low elo but falls off toward higher ranks. His team up with Magik, however, is still performing well across the board. It’s interesting to see how well this team-up has continued to perform well as Dive has become more popular again.  This week, Dimensional Shortcut enjoyed a 62.40% win rate, 4.71% pick rate, and a 12.39% ban rate.

Week-over-week the team-up’s win rate was flat, its pick rate increased by 11%, and its ban rate was up 95%. It’s held strong and is a solid pick for dive-based compositions that defy the emerging meta. Consider pairing with Captain America and another sturdy Vanguard to help lead the charge and mount the aggression in your dives. As Magik and Black Panther start to gain some popularity again, it will be interesting to see how this team-up performs throughout the remainder of the season.

Stark Protocol

  • Win Rate: 61.52% (▼ 1%)
  • Pick Rate: 9.91% (▼ 21%)
  • Ban Rate: 33.04% (—)

Stark Protocol effectively empowers Iron Man and Ultron and elevates them to new heights, two heroes who are strongly positioned in the emerging meta. This team-up adds defensive utility and extra healing for Ultron, patching a major weakness he lacks. While the damage output is limited, the fact that this ability can penetrate multiple targets (friends & foes) makes it very strong. Ultron players should aim to use it when on the ground and try to hit as many targets as possible. Use it as a stopgap to try to counter enemy ultimates and provide burst healing to your team in a pinch.

This week, Stark Protocol enjoyed a 61.52% win rate, a pick rate of 9.91%, and a ban rate of 33.04%.

Week-over-week, the win rate decreased by 1%, the pick rate decreased by 21%, and ban rate was flat. As more players learn to play Ultron well, I’d expect this team-up to continue to outperform in the emerging meta when Iron Man can skirt by a ban.

Ragnarok Rebirth

  • Win Rate: 60.56% (▼ 2%)
  • Pick Rate: 1.62% (▲ 17%)
  • Ban Rate: 7.93% (▼ 5%)

Ragnarok Rebirth has fallen since the Thor reworks, but still remains #5 on our top team-ups list in the weighted scoring algorithm. With a 60.56% win rate, it’s a clear performer even after adjustments to each of the heroes in the team-up. This week, Ragnarok Rebirth’s win rate decreased by 2%, its pick rate increased by 17% (reflected in a boost to Loki), and its ban rate dropped by 5%.

Ragnarok Rebirth has been yo-yoing in performance week over week throughout the season, but still remains a strong and viable option.

Thor can be complemented with either Captain America or Emma Frost to form a well-rounded and consistently-performing team. This team-up can also be run with just Hela and Loki, and perform extremely well.

Wrap Up

That’s it for the fourth week of season 2.5! We’ll continue to evaluate the season 2.5 meta and how it is evolving next week, keeping an eye out for top performers and rising synergies as we approach the end of the season and start of Season 3. There is so much insight to be found, and I’m hopeful the data from this week gives you some ideas of how you can capture an edge in your own competitive Marvel Rivals play!

What did you think about the fourth week of meta-analysis? Have any suggestions for the reporting going forward? Any metrics you’d like to see? Let us know in the comments below!
