Marvel Rivals: Path to Doomsday

2026 is set to be a huge year for Marvel Rivals, as a new event connecting the game with the Marvel Cinematic Universe is scheduled to launch. The event, titled “Path to Doomsday,” is expected to introduce special PvP modes and possibly feature major new characters. Let’s take a closer look at the details.

What is Marvel Rivals Path to Doomsday

Marvel fans around the world are eagerly waiting for Avengers: Doomsday to be released in cinemas worldwide in December 2026. Joining the Avengers hype train, Marvel Rivals is set to celebrate the film’s launch with new in-game content.

Revealed by the official Marvel Rivals team, the “Path to Doomsday” event will run throughout 2026, starting in April. This continuous stream of content, inspired by The Infinity Saga, will continue until December, aligning with the release of Doomsday.

Path to Doomsday Release Date

Phase One of the Path to Doomsday event is set to release on April 30, 2026, as part of Season 7.5.

The release dates for the next phases are still undisclosed. We will update the timeline for each phase as more information becomes available.

Path to Doomsday New Game Mode

As revealed at the Rivals Assembled World Premiere event, the Path to Doomsday will introduce a brand new 6v1 PvP game mode. This asymmetrical mode will revolve around Infinity Saga villains, with Loki set to be the first featured villain.

In this game mode, Loki will be significantly powered up and equipped with new skill sets. He will also possess an Infinity Stone that grants him the ability to turn enemies against each other, similar to his manipulation tactics in The Avengers.

Meanwhile, the six heroes can summon Hulk under certain conditions, recreating the iconic slamming scene at Stark Tower. Puny God.

Possible New Playable Character

With the game mode revolving around villains from the The Infinity Saga, this means the featured antagonists will include Loki, Ultron, and possibly… Thanos.

This opens up an exciting possibility that Thanos could be released as a playable character in Marvel Rivals. He would likely possess several Infinity Stones within the Infinity Gauntlet, making him a true force to be reckoned with if he does join the roster. If introduced, he would most likely fit the Vanguard role.

Based on the roadmap, the Infinity War event is expected to begin in August, which suggests that Thanos could potentially arrive in Season 9.5.

But that is not all. With Doomsday approaching, another major villain could also enter the spotlight: Doctor Doom. He has been stirring trouble in the Marvel Rivals storyline since Season 1, and it may finally be time for him to appear in the game.

Other possible new characters that can be tied to this event:

  • Captain Marvel
  • Quicksilver
  • Phil Coulson
  • Gamora
  • Nebula
  • Falcon
  • War Machine

However, this remains speculation. These villains could also be temporary playable characters exclusive to the event, so expectations should be kept in check for now.

Path to Doomsday Skins

As per usual, Marvel Rivals will likely introduce multiple skins inspired by costumes from the The Infinity Saga. Many fans have shown strong interest in Scarlet Witch’s Age of Ultron look, which could easily become a fan favorite skin if added to the game.

Other skins that could potentially arrive include:

  • Star-Lord – Infinity War skin
  • Black Widow – Avengers skin
  • Ultron – MCU skin
  • Thor – Endgame “big belly” skin

That is everything you need to know about the Path to Doomsday event in Marvel Rivals and the new content it may bring to the game. Are you excited to relive the hype of the Avengers saga in Marvel Rivals?
