Marvel Rivals Gambit Leak: Abilities, Role & Gameplay Prediction

Gambit, one of the most fan-favorite Marvel characters, has long been anticipated by the community, and there's good news. Recent leaks suggest that Gambit's data has been found in Marvel Rivals, hinting at his potential arrival in a future update. In this article, we'll take a look at the latest leaks surrounding Gambit, along with predictions for his possible role, abilities, and gameplay style.

Marvel Rivals Gambit Leaks

Trusted Marvel Rivals dataminer X0X_LEAK has revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that Gambit is already in development for the game. This revelation comes from a leaked compilation of voice lines (VO), in-game interactions between existing characters and Gambit.

While this isn’t a visual leak or gameplay footage, voiceovers are often a strong indicator of a character’s upcoming inclusion. For example, Emma Frost also had voiceover interactions leaked before any model or gameplay details surfaced.

Here are some of the leaked voice lines that reference Gambit:

Gambit's Abilities & Role

While there are currently no leaks revealing Gambit’s abilities or role in Marvel Rivals, fans of the comics can easily picture him as a Duelist character. Gambit is a mutant with the power to convert potential energy into kinetic energy, effectively turning everyday objects into explosive projectiles. Naturally, his iconic playing cards would likely be at the core of his ability kit.

In Marvel Rivals, Gambit will likely use explosive cards as his primary ranged attack. Interestingly, in the comics, he can also charge his cards to become razor-sharp, capable of slicing through solid steel. If implemented in-game, this could open up unique mechanics, such as a skill that switches between explosive and slicing cards, giving players options for different combat scenarios.

Gambit is also known for wielding his signature bo staff, which may serve as his melee weapon. In the comics, he can channel energy through the staff, slamming it into the ground to release a stunning shockwave, a perfect concept for a crowd-control ability in the game.

Lastly, considering Gambit’s agile and acrobatic nature, it’s safe to assume he’ll feature some form of mobility skill, possibly a vault, dash, or double jump, allowing him to reposition quickly in fights.

Gambit Gameplay Prediction

Now, let’s talk about how Gambit could impact the meta, assuming the predicted skill set turns out to be accurate. If he’s introduced as a Duelist, he would likely be a long-ranged hero with high explosive potential and defensive utility, such as a shockwave ability for close encounters or flanks.

At present, no Duelist in Marvel Rivals has a piercing primary attack, with the exception of Black Widow’s Operation Microchip Team-Up with The Punisher. If Gambit’s charged cards can pierce through multiple enemies, it would introduce a brand-new mechanic and offer a fresh approach to long-ranged combat. Despite his range, this would also allow Gambit to engage in close-quarters fights, taking down clustered opponents efficiently.

If he has a skill to switch between explosive and slicing (piercing) card modes, it would further enhance his flexibility. In explosive mode, he could take a more zoning or poke-style approach, raining down splash-damage projectiles from a safe distance, similar to Iron Man or Loki’s basic attacks. This slice/explosive mechanic would not only make him versatile but also lore-accurate, reflecting his unpredictable and cunning nature.

His bo staff shockwave would serve as a powerful crowd-control tool, perfect for peeling enemies off backliners or turning the tide in team fights. Given these abilities, Gambit would likely excel in a mid-position, acting as a bridge between the frontline and backline, supporting his team through burst damage, area control, and utility.

When Will Gambit Release in Marvel Rivals?

With leaks already pointing toward the arrival of other heroes like Blade, Jean Grey, and Professor X, it’s unlikely that Gambit will be released this year. The same goes for Rogue, whose voiceover interactions were leaked alongside Gambit’s.

Interestingly, Rogue and Gambit’s VO lines were leaked at the exact same time, a possible nod to their relationship in the comics, where they’re portrayed as husband and wife. Could this be a subtle tease for a Valentine’s Day-themed season? If that’s the case, we might see both Gambit and Rogue released together around February next year, possibly in Season 7.

Of course, these are purely speculative predictions based on current leaks, so be sure to take them with a grain of salt. Still, it's fun to imagine how Gambit is shaping up in Marvel Rivals based on the clues we’ve seen so far.

Are you excited to see Gambit join the game? I sure am!
