Marvel Rivals Zombie Mode The Punisher Build

Building any character correctly in Zombie Mode makes a huge difference in how well you perform. You choose your ability upgrades and assign trait points before each match starts, so understanding what works best helps you set up strong from the beginning. This The Punisher build guide covers which ability upgrades to pick, where to invest your trait points, and what blessings to grab from the shop to maximize your damage output across all difficulty levels.

The Punisher Abilities in Zombie Mode

Each of The Punisher's three abilities has three upgrade options you can choose from. You unlock these options by leveling up. Here are all the available ability modifications:

Shielded SentryLevel 5Adds protective shields to your turrets so they can take more hits before breaking
L ShiftVantage ConnectionDefaultShoots out a grappling hook that creates a cable you can use to move quickly

Missile SwarmLevel 25Shoulder-mounted missiles fire faster, have a larger explosion range, and grant Damage Reduction plus enhanced Lifesteal.

Note: After Nightmare 3, you will be barely using your ultimate - honestly, I feel like it is not required at all. Hence, it doesn't really matter what ability upgrade you choose for the Ultimate.

Best Punisher Traits in Zombie Mode

The trait system in Zombie Mode lets you upgrade your weapon stats as you level up. For Punisher, you want to focus all your trait points on the red side of the tree. The red traits improve Adjudication, which is your assault rifle. This is where most of your damage output comes from throughout the match.

Avoid spreading your points across multiple weapon types. Concentrating on one weapon tree gets you stronger faster!

In-Game Shop Priorities

The blessing shop appears between waves and lets you purchase permanent upgrades using the moon points you earn. For Punisher, you want to focus on cards that increase your damage output first, with survivability as a secondary concern. Understanding which blessings work best helps you scale faster into the later waves.

General Blessings

When looking at general blessings, prioritize damage increases over health upgrades. A few standout options perform exceptionally well on Punisher.

  • Primordial Frost gives you a 3% chance to freeze enemies when dealing damage, and frozen enemies explode on defeat dealing blast damage to nearby zombies. Getting duplicate cards increases the explosion damage even further.
  • Zeus's Thunder provides a 20% chance to trigger chain lightning that hits three targets with bonus damage.
  • Vampiric Vitality converts 5% of your damage dealt into self-healing. This blessing becomes more effective as your damage increases, giving you passive sustain throughout matches. Duplicate cards increase the healing percentage.

For stat-based general blessings, grab Power Surge first for the raw damage increase. After that, Vitality Boost and Moonlight Protection help with survivability if you need more health or damage reduction.

Hero-Specific Blessings

Focus exclusively on the red path blessings for Punisher since these improve your assault rifle. Look for blessings that boost your base damage, headshot damage, reload speed, and fire rate. These four types scale your damage output most effectively.

Magazine capacity blessings are not your priority however, you can pick a few in early rounds to hit the 120 mark sooner. There are blessings that refund bullets or increase reload speed to the point where you reload almost instantly. This makes large magazine sizes unnecessary once you have the right blessing combinations. However, during the first few waves, having extra magazine capacity helps before you acquire the reload speed and bullet refund blessings.

Is Punisher Worth Playing in Zombie Mode?

Punisher sits in the middle ground. He can definitely clear content and perform well, but he needs more time to reach his full strength than characters like Blade. The early game feels weaker since you are still building up your traits; however, when it comes to taking down bosses, The Punisher might be the best character in the current Marvel Rivals Zombie mode.

Once you get past wave five and have most of your upgrades purchased, Punisher becomes quite strong. The Punisher works best when your team stays alive and you have time to scale into the late game where his damage output finally matches the other meta picks.

Keep in mind that this build guide is based on my gameplay experience and preferences. There are many possible combinations of traits, abilities, and blessings that can work depending on your playstyle and the difficulty level you are playing. If you have different builds or blessing combinations that work well for you, feel free to share them in the comments below. Just make sure to mention which difficulty level you tested your build on so others can try it out as well.
