Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 to 3.5 Roadmap, Release Dates, & Heroes

Shorter seasons, and a Hero every month! Speculation on the upcoming seasons of Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals has just gotten the official trailer and information about the upcoming Season 2. It is surely exciting to find out who the new characters are, what new maps and events are coming, and what changes will be introduced. It is even more exciting to find out what will come in the mid-season and the future seasons. Let's talk more about what you can expect in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 through 3.5, including the release date speculation and leaks.

Marvel Rivals Season 2

Marvel Rivals fans have been excited thanks to the official trailer of Season 2, Hellfire Gala. The new hero confirmed to be added at the start of Season 2, which will be on April 11, is Emma Frost.

Emma Frost will be a Vanguard hero with the unique ability to switch from Human Form to Diamond Form. Of course, as a Vanguard does, she can deploy a Psychic Barrier to protect herself and her allies. Her overall skills focus more on crowd control, including stunning, knockback, and mind control.

The most interesting skill is her ultimate, where she can render all the enemies in the area in front of her mind-controlled and helplessly walk toward her, prohibiting any kind of movement and ability usage.

Season 2 will also include a new Battle Pass, complete with new skins and costumes. New Team-up Abilities will also be introduced. The new map for Season 2 will be Krakoa, the Mutant Island known for hosting the Hellfire Gala.

The Season 2 Balance Patch Notes are also out, confirming all changes, nerfs, and buffs that will be applied when the season kicks off.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Release Date Speculation and Leaks

Since Season 1, the timing for the release of the mid-season was 6 weeks, and for the new season it took 7 weeks. Season 1 was released on January 10, and Season 1.5 released exactly 6 weeks from it, on February 21.

Season 2 will be released on 11 April, so from this pattern, we can speculate that Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 release date will be on 23 May 2025.

Season 2.5 New Hero Speculation

From the official trailer, we can see that Ultron is present. And based on the leaks that have been circulating since March, Ultron will be the new playable hero in Season 2.5.

Ultron will be a new Strategist who has unique new skill sets. From the leaked information, Ultron's abilities will be:

  • Passive: Algorithm Correction – Hold Space to fall slowly while airborne, indicating limited flight capability.
  • Dynamic Flight (Shift) – Dashes in the direction of movement, then enters free-flight mode.
  • Imperative: Patch (E) – Commands a giant drone to follow an ally, healing allies within its radius, with extra healing for the marked ally.
  • Imperative: Firewall (RMB) – Summons drones to grant bonus health to nearby allies, centered on Ultron and the marked ally.
  • Rage of Ultron (Ultimate) – Summons Ultron Drones that fire Encephalo-Rays, which can damage enemies or heal allies.

Ultron is shaping up to be a Strategist who can really support diving heroes, as he can passively heal through his drones. With this in mind, he might not be fit to serve as a solo healer, meaning that he will need other healing-focused Strategists like Luna Snow, Mantis, Invisible Woman, or Cloak & Dagger.

Marvel Rivals Season 3 Release Date Speculation and Leaks

From the same pattern, if Season 2.5 releases on 23 May, Season 3 will be released on 11 July 2025, 7 weeks apart from Season 2.5.

However, from the developer notes, NetEase has informed that they are planning to shorten the season duration starting from Season 3. Instead of 3 months, Marvel Rivals will have a new season every 2 months, meaning there will be a new playable character 1 month after the season launch.

Season 3 Leaks

There are not many leaks specifically made for Season 3. However, I will not be surprised if Blade, who has been teased in Eternal Night Central Park, will be released as a playable character in Season 3.

Blade will likely be another Duelist who excels at close-range combat and flanking enemies. His leaked abilities are:

  • Passive: Bloodline Liberation – Allows Blade to see enemies through walls, though the trigger condition is currently unknown.
  • Stomp and Slash – Main attacking skill that deals high burst damage with his katana.
  • The Dark Knight Attack – Dash strike used for closing distance or retreating; may or may not deal damage.
  • Fang Deflect – Defensive skill that deflects incoming ranged attacks using his katana.
  • Ultimate: New Moon – Transforms Blade into his full vampire form, enhancing stats and possibly unlocking new abilities, likely with lifesteal effects.

Aside from a new character, of course, NetEase will also include a new Battle Pass for Season 3.

Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 Release Date Speculation and Leaks

If the season duration stands at only 2 months starting from Season 3, the mid-season will be just one month in. This means that Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 will likely launch on 11 August 2025, only one month after the season start.

Season 3.5 Leaks

Same with Season 3, there is not much information and few leaks about Season 3.5. However, there are a lot of leaks revealing new characters that are planned to be introduced in future seasons of Marvel Rivals.

One character that has high potential to be added in Season 3, either at the start or mid-season, is—surprisingly—Professor X. Thanks to the Krakoa map teaser in Season 2, we can spot a statue of Professor X, hinting at his future arrival. Further strengthening this theory, recent leaks have surfaced revealing his potential skill set, making it more likely that the powerful telepath will soon join the roster.

Other than Charles Xavier, these characters are also leaked:

Those are the complete roadmap speculations and leaks for the future seasons of Marvel Rivals. Are you excited for what’s coming? Tell us in the comments which characters you are most excited for!
