Map Layout
Before getting into the layout details, there is one unique mechanic in this map:
Surveillance System
In Lower Manhattan, there is a surveillance system used by Kingpin to detect superheroes. This system scans the entire map and reveals every player’s position, health, and ultimate status for a brief duration.
- The scanner activates roughly every 1 minute 30 seconds to 3 minutes.
- Before it triggers, a loud alarm will sound, followed by an announcement that the surveillance system is active.
- A large green scanning field will then sweep across the entire map.
This can be troublesome for flanking heroes, as the scan immediately exposes every player’s position. It is a fun mechanic that adds an extra layer of strategy.
Garden Area

At the start of the match, you will immediately encounter the first choke point, the Garden Area. It features a large arch, followed by a garden and the entrance to the Biological Engineering School, where the first capture point is located.
As an attacker, there are two ways to push through this area, either through the arch or via Smile Deli on the left. If the defending team is holding the arch, take the Deli route. If they are playing passively behind the garden, it is better to push through the arch.
As a defender, the best way to hold this choke point is to position a strong tank at the arch, while the rest of the team controls the garden fountain. This setup allows full coverage of both entry points and helps delay the attackers as long as possible.
There are three Health Packs in this area, one inside the Deli, one in the parking area, and one inside the side door on the left.
Biological Engineering School (Capture Point)

After the garden, the fight shifts inside the Biological Engineering School, where the capture point is located and where most of the major fights take place. As soon as you enter, you will notice multiple hallways and elevated areas, giving players several pathing options.
As an attacker, the most effective way to take control of the point is through the middle entrance. Push in as a team, keep your Vanguards healthy, and focus on winning mid-range fights. Flankers can use the hallway on the right or the second floor on the left to catch isolated enemies off guard.

As a defender, take advantage of the elevated platforms around and behind the capture point to gain high ground. Since the area is relatively tight, burst damage heroes like The Punisher and Moon Knight are very effective. Area denial characters such as Peni Parker also perform well here.
There are three Health Packs in this area, one in the small hallway, one on the second floor on the left, and one inside a small lab on the right side.
The Streets
After capturing the point, the attackers will switch to escorting the payload. The battle then moves to the streets of New York City, filled with buildings, rooms, and alleyways that both teams can use to their advantage.
First Chokepoint

As soon as you enter the streets, the first choke point is just ahead. This area is quite narrow, making it ideal for close and mid range heroes to thrive.
As an attacker, there are two paths to choose from, the main street or the Union Allied building. Use the Union Allied building to pick off enemies and create space for the payload to move forward.
As a defender, focus on holding the main street as strongly as possible, while keeping an eye on the Union Allied building windows to avoid getting picked off.
There are three Health Packs in this area, located inside the Universal Bank, the Union Allied building, and the Piano Room on the left corner.
Jeff Statue Roundabout

This area features elevated balconies and a wider street. The key to controlling this space for both teams is securing those elevated positions. While most fights will happen on the street, having players on the balconies provides a significant advantage.
Long-range heroes like The Punisher, Hela, or Phoenix who control the balconies can greatly help the team clear the objective and maintain pressure.
There are four Health Packs in this area, one behind the snack shop, one inside the Stock Exchange building, one inside the Circle Cafe, and one in the second floor alleyway with large stone pillars.
Kingpin's Fortress

After passing through the fortress gate, you will enter a zigzag street filled with elevated platforms and cliffs that allow you to knock enemies off the map.
The overall strategy is similar to the previous area. Most fights will take place on the street, but controlling the elevated platforms is key to maintaining pressure on the enemy team.

However, you can adjust your approach slightly here. Consider using heroes who can push or pull enemies off the cliffs, such as Angela, Invisible Woman, Emma Frost, or Spider-Man. While this is not the main win condition, eliminating one or two enemies instantly can give your team a strong advantage.
There are two Health Packs in this area, one inside the building next to the elevated street, and one inside the red colored room.
Final Area

Moving into the final area of the map, this section is designed for an all-out clash between both teams. There are multiple elevated platforms and a wide circular space in the center, making it a chaotic but strategic battleground.
As the attacking team, try to enter the final area through different routes. Flying heroes can push from the second floor, while tanky heroes should pressure through the center. Flankers should focus on eliminating the enemy backline to create openings.
As the defending team, long-range heroes should prioritize controlling the elevated platforms. Use these positions to maintain constant pressure and hold off the attackers for as long as possible. If possible, push the attackers back toward the choke point to make it harder for them to break through.
Best Heroes to Use
Area denial Vanguards like Peni Parker are excellent on this map, especially with its narrow streets and tight spaces. Blade, Phoenix, and Moon Knight are also very effective in close quarters combat.
The Punisher and Hela remain top choices for long-range burst damage, allowing consistent pressure from elevated positions.
Star-Lord stands out as the ideal flanker here. The map features plenty of windows, doors, and elevated paths that allow for creative movement and jukes. Other conventional flankers may struggle due to the surveillance system scans constantly revealing positions.
That is everything you need to know about the Lower Manhattan map in Marvel Rivals. Good luck stopping Kingpin!
