Marvel Rivals Gorr Leaks: Is Gorr Coming to Marvel Rivals?

Recent leaks have revealed surprising voice lines related to one of the most menacing villains in the Marvel universe, the God Butcher himself, Gorr. Is Gorr really coming to Marvel Rivals? Let’s talk about it here.

Marvel Rivals Gorr Leaks

Recently, leaks regarding voice lines surrounding Gorr the God Butcher have been circulating. The leaked voice lines are as follows:

"Gorr, enough distractions! Why have you been whispering inside my mind..."

"Ugh, thanks, but I'm far more interested in your sword. It'll look gorgeous over my fireplace."

"That sword, I remember it from Klyntar."

"First Eddie and Cletus, and now this weirdo? Can I please get a break from the killer aliens for just five minutes?"

"All creatures are flawed, even divine ones."
"That is true, but who are you to judge them?"

These voice lines are very ambiguous. While they seem to reference interactions with Gorr as a playable character, they could also be interpreted as interactions tied to a map or payload.

Interestingly, just a few days after these leaks surfaced, prominent dataminer X0X_Leak revealed that the voice lines had been removed from the game files. X0X_Leak also suggested that Gorr may actually be coming based on this removal. NetEase has previously deleted existing game data related to upcoming characters before their release, as seen with White Fox in Season 7.

Gallery Card Teaser

Another Gorr hint has actually been in the game since Season 3, but it did not receive as much attention due to all the other hype surrounding the season at the time. In one of the Gallery Cards, the following lines appear:

"While Knull may have been my creator, he has not been the only one to wield me. During his long imprisonment within the heart of Klyntar, I formed bonds with others. And during that time, I learned what it meant to be revered. Cherished. Venerated. Knull had treated me like a servant, created only to do his bidding. Another put me on the pedestal of godhood in my own right."

"Even though it is likely Knull will win this battle due to the sheer level of dark power he possesses, I cannot help but wonder: Who is the true King in Black here? And, more importantly, will the hands that worshipped me ever hold me again…"

This Gallery Card lore is written from the perspective of All-Black, the Necrosword. The sentient weapon was originally created by Knull, but was later wielded by none other than Gorr himself. The Necrosword feeds on the energy of Celestials and the blood of gods, which is why Gorr earned the title of the God Butcher.

It is quite clear that this Gallery Card is referring to Gorr. More importantly, the lore itself seems to hint at the possible inclusion of Gorr in the game at some point in the future.

Marvel Rivals Gorr Abilities and Role Prediction

Before we continue discussing his potential role, one thing to keep in mind is that these leaks do not guarantee Gorr will become a playable character. He could simply end up as another lore villain in Marvel Rivals, similar to Doom or Dracula, both of whom players also want to see become playable.

Nevertheless, if he is introduced as a playable character in the future, the most fitting role for him would likely be Vanguard. Wielding the Necrosword, Gorr could function as a poke Vanguard and DPS hybrid, somewhat similar to Angela, but grounded.

As for his gameplay and abilities, everything would almost certainly revolve around the All-Black Necrosword. That weapon is what granted Gorr, originally just an ordinary alien, his godlike powers.

Gorr possesses superhuman strength and durability, and can create a variety of constructs using the power of All-Black. He can also summon semi-sentient creatures powerful enough to kill gods themselves.

Necrosword

Based on the comic lore, Gorr would most likely use the Necrosword as his primary weapon. It would feel absurd for him not to wield All-Black in combat. However, unlike Blade, Gorr would probably have slower but much heavier cleaving attacks.

His playstyle could work similarly to Reinhardt from Overwatch, focusing on powerful swings and close-range pressure.

Create Constructs

He can also create living abyss constructs, which in Marvel Rivals could translate into defensive or crowd-control abilities. For example, he could provide armor to allies, slow enemies, or even temporarily immobilize them.

Mobility

Mobility should also be part of his kit. Gorr is often depicted moving at extreme speeds and even flying in the comics, so a dash or movement skill like Magik would make sense.

Ultimate

As for his Ultimate ability, I personally think his power to create minions could finally come into play. The Ultimate could summon three or four semi-sentient abyss creatures, also known as Black Berserkers, that aggressively hunt nearby enemies and deal significant damage.

Of course, these are all predictions based on comic lore, not official abilities or leaked gameplay details. For now, they should only be viewed as speculation and reference material.

When Will Gorr Release in Marvel Rivals?

Or to be more precise, will Gorr actually release in Marvel Rivals? While much of the Marvel Rivals community would love to see Gorr become playable, there is still a major concern. Most villains in Marvel Rivals currently exist only as part of the lore.

Aside from Ultron, major antagonists like Doctor Doom, Dracula, Kingpin, and soon Thanos, remain unplayable and serve only as narrative figures.

Still, if Gorr does eventually become playable, players probably should not expect him anytime soon. With Season 8.5 introducing Cyclops, other leaks currently point more toward characters like Captain Marvel, Colossus, Jubilee, and Forge being added first. Because of that, Gorr may not arrive until Season 11 or even later.

That is everything currently known about Gorr in Marvel Rivals so far. Would you like to see the God Butcher become a playable villain in Marvel Rivals?
