In the 2025 winter update, Marvel Rivals introduced a new mechanic involving Pym Technology that allows characters to shrink and expand. One name immediately comes to mind: Ant-Man. Could this be a subtle hint that he will be joining the game soon? Let’s take a closer look at everything you need to know.
Ant-Man Hinted in Marvel Rivals?
After the Winter Update on December 18, Marvel Rivals players can try out a new mechanic involving Pym Particles. In the non-combat map, Times Square, a booth from Pym’s Test Kitchen opens and offers players a Pym-ini Sandwich, and it comes with a surprise!
After consuming the sandwich, players can either shrink or grow in size, showcasing the effects of Pym Particle technology. This immediately raises speculation: could this be a subtle hint that Ant-Man or The Wasp may be introduced to Marvel Rivals in the future?
As of now, NetEase has not confirmed anything regarding their inclusion, leaving players in speculation based solely on these subtle in-game hints. Aside from that, there have been no leaks or datamined information related to Ant-Man or The Wasp so far. This puts players completely in the dark, making this new in-game mechanic the only hint we currently have regarding their possible inclusion.
Marvel Rivals Ant-Man Abilities & Role Prediction
While there are still no leaks regarding Ant-Man, the newly introduced in-game shrinking mechanic gives players room to speculate about what he could bring to Marvel Rivals. Based on his abilities in the comics, Ant-Man would likely fit better as a Strategist rather than a Duelist, focusing more on utility, control, and team support rather than raw damage.
Note: The following is purely personal speculation based on comic lore and in-game hints, and is not based on official Marvel Rivals information.

Ant-Man has the ability to shrink down to the size of an ant or grow to giant proportions using special Pym Particles stored in his belt. This shrinking mechanic could be his bread-and-butter skill in Marvel Rivals, functioning as a movement ability that allows him to reposition safely and confuse enemies. Attacking while exiting his shrunken state could deal bonus damage, similar to how Ant-Man delivers powerful surprise punches in the movies.

He wears a special helmet that allows him to communicate with and control insects, especially ants, which he often rides for transportation. This could become the core of his kit in Marvel Rivals. Controlling insects to heal or support allies would be a really unique addition to the game. But how could ants heal? Well, Luna Snow heals with ice, and Gambit heals with cards, so anything is possible. The ants could carry special healing Pym Particles. At this point, the imagination can run wild; it is Marvel after all.
His suit also features wrist-mounted devices that fire electric blasts at enemies. This would likely serve as his basic attack in Marvel Rivals.
Marvel Rivals Ant-Man Gameplay Prediction

Ant-Man would fit well as a Strategist–Vanguard hybrid, able to support allies while also playing aggressively on the frontline using his shrinking and expanding abilities.
His ability to grow in size could make him more durable and allow him to apply crowd control effects. However, a full-size expansion mechanic would be complicated to implement, as many Marvel Rivals maps feature enclosed rooms, narrow alleys, and low ceilings. Because of this, size expansion might only be usable in open areas, or be limited in scale.
His shrinking ability would likely function similarly to how it’s teased in Times Square during the winter update, still visible, but much smaller and faster, making him harder to hit or track during chaotic fights.
Ant-Man’s Ultimate would most likely revolve around his power to control insects. He could command swarms of insects to protect all allies at once, granting continuous healing, temporary flight, and possibly bonus damage for a short duration.
Overall, Ant-Man feels far more suited to a Strategist role that rewards smart positioning and timing. Playing him would likely require thoughtful decision-making and creative plays, very fitting for Scott Lang, a clever thief who always relies on planning rather than brute force.
When Will Ant-Man Release in Marvel Rivals?
Ant-Man is unlikely to be introduced before Season 7 or later, which would place his potential release around March 2026 or beyond. The new heroes for Season 6 have already been confirmed as Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone, and other previously leaked characters, such as Professor X or Nightcrawler, are more likely to arrive before Ant-Man.
Again, these are purely speculations, so take them with a grain of salt. This page will be updated as soon as more official information surfaces.
