The moment many Marvel Rivals players have been waiting for is almost here: the Season 3 update! Thanks to a combination of in-game lore, leaks, and a Twitch announcement, we already have several strong hints about what Season 3 might bring. Here’s everything you need to know about Marvel Rivals Season 3, including its release date, theme, and new heroes.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Release Date
Based on the usual update timeline since the launch of Marvel Rivals, Season 3 is expected to release on July 11, 2025.
The developers have confirmed that starting with Season 3, the season duration will be shortened to just two months. This means the mid-season update will arrive only one month after the season begins, potentially bringing a new hero every month. Exciting times ahead!
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Title and Theme

There are still no teasers or visual hints about the theme of Season 3. However, we already have a Season 3 title thanks to an announcement made in a Twitch Blog post, the title is Season 3: The Abyss Awaken.
The announcement also confirmed that there will be Venomized costumes, which means that the theme will revolve around Klyntar and Symbiote. Based on the last Gallery Card that players can get by completing the Cerebro Database II, we can see a strong hint about Season 3's theme.
Here’s the lore that suggests the Klyntar theme for Season 3:
"I may have… just the excuse… You are seeking…" Adam Warlock said, stepping forward unsteadily, his hand against his temple.
"What's wrong, Adam?" Captain America asked, deep concern in his voice.
"I can feel him… in my mind…" Warlock continued. "The darkness… has returned…"
"Who could make a golden god such as yourself tremble in fear?" Loki asked curiously.
"Only one answer," Venom replied. "Knull."
"I sense him as well," Black Panther added. "I must make sure Bast is safe!"
"Knull rises again?" Hela said with a smirk. "Impressive…""We've faced eternal night before and won," Human Torch said. "We've got this."
"Easy to say, Matchstick…" Thing retorted, "… but this ain't Dracula. This is the actual God of Darkness we're talkin' about here!"
"Ben's right," Invisible Woman added. "How are we supposed to confront one of the primal forces of the universe?"
"Perhaps by calling on one of them ourselves, Susan, my dear," Namor responded, looking toward the stars.
"I only pray they are listening…" Adam Warlock said, "…or we are all doomed."
Based on the lore, after the usual shenanigans with Doctor Doom, a new threat emerges, and it's massive. It's revealed that the demiurge Knull has reemerged.
If you're unfamiliar, Knull is a cosmic-level villain in the Marvel Universe who created the symbiotes and embodies darkness and destruction. He’s a primordial entity older than the universe itself, born in the void before creation, long before planets or life ever existed.
After being defeated and cast into the void, Knull began forging living weapons from his own essence, these would become the symbiotes. Eventually, the symbiotes rebelled and imprisoned him within a living planet made entirely of symbiote matter. That prison planet is called Klyntar, which in the symbiote language means "cage."
Symbiote-Themed Skins

From this, it's safe to assume that Season 3's theme will revolve around Klyntar and the rise of Knull. A symbiote-themed season is likely to feature dark, cosmic aesthetics, and lore-heavy content. Considering Jeff the Land Shark just got a Symbiote Shenanigans Team-Up with Venom in Season 2.5, there's even a chance Jeff might get a fan-favorite symbiote skin in Season 3.
Leaks have also revealed voice lines that hint at the Venomized cosmetics being added for Captain America, Storm, Moon Knight, and Rocket Raccoon. Based on the leaks, here are the voice lines that suggest these upcoming Season 3 cosmetics:
- Captain America: “Just call me Captain Klyntar. I was overdue for an upgrade.”
- Rocket Raccoon: “Whoa, bite them, not me! Easy buddy, we’re supposed to be partners.”
- Storm: “We embrace Nature’s Fury. Such raw power! Delicious!”
- Moon Knight: “I can get used to this. Not bad, eh Khonshu?”
Marvel Rivals Season 3 New Heroes

In the same shocking revelation made in the Twitch blog post, it was stated that Phoenix and Blade will be coming to Marvel Rivals in Season 3. This aligns well with the lore in Season 2.5, where the team will have to call upon their own Demiurge, which is Phoenix. However, Blade is the surprising addition.
As the lore is more focused on Phoenix and the latest Moon Knight skin is based on her, it is most likely that Jean Grey will be introduced first in the first half of Season 3.
It is still unknown what role Phoenix will have. Previously, she was believed to be a Duelist. However, with Blade also joining, who is also likely to be a Duelist, it is unlikely that two Duelists will be added in the same season. So, there is a possibility that Phoenix could be a Strategist.
Many players are also speculating about Wiccan, who is known as a Demiurge in the comics, as a potential new hero in this Klyntar-themed season. However, this theory now seems less likely, as the statement in Twitch’s blog post suggests otherwise.
Season 3.5

Now this is a surprising one. Yes, in Season 2.5, Blade was shown missing from his bed, indicating that he had woken up and wandered off. While leaks had hinted that Captain Marvel could be the other new character, Twitch’s blog post has now confirmed that Blade is the next new hero.
As Jean Grey is likely to be the first hero introduced, it's most probable that Blade will join the roster in Season 3.5. Based on leaks, Blade is a Duelist, capable of dealing heavy damage with his Shotgun and Katana. Leaks also revealed that Blade will have a Team-Up with Cloak & Dagger.
This reveal is a huge moment for Blade fans, who have been waiting for his introduction since his first sighting in Season 1.5.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Possible New Map
Given the possible Klyntar theme for Season 3, it's highly likely that we'll see a brand-new Klyntar map introduced to match the season's narrative direction. Currently, Marvel Rivals does not feature a Klyntar-themed Domination map, making it a strong candidate for the next Domination battleground.
Additionally, Klyntar has no Convoy map either, so it's reasonable to expect a new map for that mode as well. With lore and leaks pointing toward a symbiote-heavy season, new map additions could help flesh out the atmosphere.
That’s everything we know so far about Marvel Rivals Season 3. From the potential Klyntar-themed storyline to the possible arrival of cosmic powerhouses like Phoenix and Blade, the next season is shaping up to be exciting.
