Marvel Rivals has added a new game mode called Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol. This is an auto-battler where you pick six heroes and they fight automatically against other players. In this guide, we'll cover the team comps that work well right now, which heroes perform best, and how to adapt based on what your opponents are doing.
Best Team Compositions
Six Duelist Powerhouse
This team comp focuses purely on damage output and scales incredibly well into late game.
Team Members:
- Storm
- Human Torch
- Black Widow
- The Punisher
- Black Panther
- Wolverine
Note: You can swap one of the characters for Iron-Man, preferably Black Panther/Wolverine.
Protocol Priority: Protocol Onslaught
- Focus all points into the Protocol Onslaught and get to Level 3 (40 XP) for maximum damage boost.
- Skip other protocols completely.
This build starts weak but becomes nearly unstoppable once you accumulate enough Protocol Onslaught levels and modules that go well with your characters. Position all six characters in the back row. You'll lose early matches while building up, but the late-game damage output is great!
- Pros: Incredible late-game damage potential, simple positioning strategy
- Cons: Vulnerable early game, no healing support, requires time to scale

Best Characters for Ultron's Battle Matrix
How to Build a Team
The most important thing in auto chess games is staying flexible. You can't always get the exact team you want because of RNG, but you can work with what you get. Here's how to build strong teams:
- Start at Hero Selection: Look at the heroes available to you. If you see most characters from a strong team comp like the six duelist build, grab them right away. If you can't get all the heroes you want, pick as many core pieces as you can and fill in with other meta characters.
- Focus on Economy First: For the first 4 rounds, focus on building up your tokens. Don't spend too much early on. Try to reach 50 tokens so you get maximum interest income.
- Swap Heroes When Needed: Keep an eye out for better heroes you can replace. If you are building towards a particular comp, try to check the heroes for it from the pool. However, if you don't find the perfect match, you can always substitute it with an alternative that will still let you reach the bonus.
- Remember Module Power: Good modules can make average teams beat perfect teams with bad upgrades. A team with solid modules will often win against better individual heroes.
How to Choose Modules
Picking the right modules is all about reading your opponents and countering what they're doing.
- Scout Your Enemies: Click on other players' profiles to see what they're building. This is super important, and many players forget to do it. If you see three people building duelist teams, you know what's coming and try to buy modules based on that. For example, if you are running an all-tank team into multiple players playing Duelist heavy comps, prioritise modules such as Defensive Shell and Damage Interference as this will decrease your damage taken and the enemy's damage output, respectively.
- Grab Rare and Legendary Modules: These are much stronger than common modules. When you see purple or gold modules that fit your team, buy them right away. They're worth the extra cost.
- Prioritize Your Core Heroes: For strengthen modules, focus on your most important characters first. If Namor is the core character, get his strengthen module before anyone else's. Some heroes have really strong strengthen module options in the current meta, and if you are playing these characters, prioritise these characters rather than randomly picking a module for any character.
Note: Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol just launched, and we're still trying out new strategies and comps. We'll keep updating this guide with new strategies and compositions as they emerge.
