Primal Punishment Guide

In this Team-Up, Devil Dinosaur acts as the anchor, giving The Punisher a new ability that lets him ride on his back. While riding, The Punisher gains damage reduction and shared healing with Devil Dinosaur.

While mounted on Devil Dinosaur’s back, The Punisher can only use his primary attack and Smoke Grenade.

This Team-Up is a nightmare for a specific type of enemy, flying heroes. Both The Punisher and Devil Dinosaur directly counter airborne characters, and together they can make life miserable for heroes like Iron Man, Storm, Human Torch, or Angela.

The best time to use this Team-Up is when the enemy team heavily relies on flying heroes. If an enemy Iron Man or Human Torch is dominating the match, that’s the perfect moment to switch to The Punisher and Devil Dinosaur and start shutting them down.

The playstyle itself is simple. When contesting objectives or holding chokepoints, immediately mount Devil Dinosaur to gain the damage reduction bonus and start pressuring the enemy team.

Remember, prioritize flying enemies first.

Best Against

The Primal Punishment Team-Up is especially effective against flying enemies. The Punisher’s hitscan attacks are already a direct counter to airborne heroes, while Devil Dinosaur’s Photon Spray can prevent enemies from staying in the air. Combined, they become a nightmare matchup for flyers.

Best Counters

The best heroes to counter the Primal Punishment Team-Up are characters who can limit their vision or take advantage of how closely they stay together.

Cloak & Dagger are especially effective, as their blinding abilities can disrupt the Team-Up once it becomes active. Invisible Woman can also help flying allies survive longer by protecting them with shields.

Moon Knight is arguably the strongest counter. Since The Punisher sits directly on top of Devil Dinosaur, they become an easy clustered target for Moon Knight’s bouncing projectiles.

Jeff the Land Shark’s ultimate is another excellent counter, because the two characters stay so close together that he can reliably swallow both of them at once.
